About the Role

 

As a member of the Olympic Dam Small Projects (ODSP) team you will leverage your project management planning and commissioning expertise and leadership skills to collaborate with others to drive the world class delivery of projects. You will ensure commissioning deliverables are adhered to from the design phase through to delivery and into Operations in accordance with the BHP Small Project Management Framework (SPMF), relevant site standards and approved performance targets (HSE, cost, quality, schedule).

 


To be successful in this role you will have a solid project management understanding and significant experience in commissioning with the ability to manage multiple business priorities simultaneously. Strong interpersonal skills are essential to allow you to influence while also enabling you to build collaborative team relationships, communicate across all business areas at all levels and ensure the highest value outcome for the business.

 


You will thrive in continuously changing and ambiguous environments and adapt to ensure focus is on the highest value-add activities for the department. You will be action oriented and strategically focused with superior problem solving, decision making and influencing skills. Success in this role will be achieved through effective engagement with other team members, and the active identification and resolution of project gaps and risks including design, planning, safety, cost, schedule, commissioning, operational readiness.

 



This position is based in Adelaide Monday-Friday with weekly site presence/.  You can alternatively choose to live residentially in Roxby Downs.

 

In this role you will: 

 

  • Demonstrate a commitment to safety by actively engaging in the BHP Field Leadership program.

  • Work in-field with operational and construction teams to enable successful completion of projects in the ODSP portfolio.

  • Lead the Commissioning Planning, Commissioning, Completion and Handover activities for multi-disciplinary projects across all areas of the site.

  • Support the management of multiple ODSP projects (each typically A$1M - A$50M) through the design, execution, commissioning, and work management phases.

  • Optimise value through the project lifecycle by engaging other ODSP team members to understand, review and ensure all critical elements of each project are effectively planned.

  • Ability to provide specialist multi-discipline commissioning engineering support and project management capability to ensure projects can be delivered in accordance with the portfolio and relevant processes, standards, and performance targets.

  • Support and coach the application of Project Management and Commissioning processes within the team to ensure compliance with Site requirements, Our Requirements, the BHP SPMF, any applicable Engineering standards, and the Management of Change process.

  • Review front end engineering studies, design and tender packages, planning for execution and commissioning of projects in the ODSP portfolio.

  • Provide advice on commissioning strategy and planning to Project Specialists in the department with a focus on successful handover.

  • Identify and assess risks relevant to design, execution, and commissioning phases, make risk informed decisions, and build a risk aware culture to support safe and productive performance outcomes. 

  • Manage the integration of projects within a live brownfield operation with understanding of operational risks and constraints.

 

About You

 

  • Tertiary or trade qualified ideally in Electrical or Process, discipline to support the technical requirements of the role.

  • Proven track record in managing multi-disciplinary complex brownfield engineering projects.

  • Experience in the leading, planning and executing commissioning activities.

  • Ability to coach and mentor team members.

  • Engages with others in the department to build influence and trust in support of business outcomes.

  • Clearly conveys information using a variety of means to ensure understanding of Why, How and What.

  • Self-manages workload in a variety of locations with a focus on value output.
