About the Role

 

  • This role is a 12 months Fixed term
  • This opportunity will be offered as a Residential role based in Newman on a 5/2 roster. 

 

Corporate Affairs - Community is seeking a proactive implementer that can successfully support operationalising the Community Strategy. In this role, you will be responsible for developing and strengthening stakeholder relations, community development and social investment. 

 

Key accountabilities for this role include: 

 

  • Lead the timely administration and management of BHP’s Community Grant Program, including liaising with local groups and not-for-profits, facilitating payments and acquittals   
  • Facilitate and project manage a range of key social investment contracts  
  • Participate to key community forums and engagements (regular and ad-hoc), and provide feedback to the team 
  • Coordination of and attendance at key events and opportunities to build the profile of BHP and local leadership within the community, including providing on-the-day support as required
  • Work with the Corporate Affairs Communications team to protect and enhance the BHP brand and community outcomes 
  • Oversee the community inbox and triage requests within approved timeframes 
  • Promote and assist volunteer opportunities through the WA Volunteer portal 
  • Coordinate and drive appropriate responses to a range of internal and external inquiries and issues 

About You

 

  • You thrive in a highly dynamic environment, with the ability to work quickly and responsively to community needs 
  • Ability to think innovatively about local challenges and develop creative solutions in consultation with local stakeholders
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Ability to work through scopes independently and seek assistance across an established Corporate Affairs network 
  • Comfortable engaging a wide variety of key stakeholders across different areas 
  • Experience in community development or volunteer space or similar is preferred
