About the Role
Reporting to the Head of Corporate affairs and Communications of Pampa Norte, this role is responsible of Social Compliance and Community engagement. The scope of the role are communities nearby Cerro Colorado historical footprint as well as support the engagement with communities added to the footprint for new projects or initiatives.
This role is also responsible for Governance, Development and Accomplish of community commitments founded on agreements, contracts, or any other related document.
In this role the responsible will deliver a planning process, a standardized approach and methodology to ensure compliance. In executing this role, the ability to unlock land access and build trust with communities through a high performance is essential.
This position is a 5x2 shift in Iquique, with constant travelling to communities’ location.
Main Accountabilities:
- Responsible to deliver and deploy a Governance of Commitments from Social agreements. The governance includes proposal of governance, procedures, schedule. As well as execute and implement the commitments with high-level standard considering quality and timeframe at the field.
- Responsible to execute the Community Engagement plan, with communities of area of influence, ensuring consistency and alignment with BHP´s standards and guidelines, External Affairs strategy and Cerro Colorado potential future scenarios (Closure or Reopening).
- Support the accomplishment of social and environmental commitments derived from permits or other regulations.
- Responsible for track record of the processes in charge of, ensuring all the information is updated and recorded in the database provided by the company for this purpose, ensuring consistency and organisational intelligence.
- While performing the role and making decisions:

- Ensure applying BHP standards and guidelines, as well as consistency with Asset and business strategic objectives.
- Identify risk and deliver proposals for controls
- Working close and in collaboration with key internal stakeholders, considering other areas or functions that should be involved in a decision.
- Maintain and build trust with communities and other stakeholders maintaining an active agenda.
About You
To be a top performer you will need:
- Professional degree in different types of engineering or related sciences.
- At least 5 years of experience in community relations or project execution.
- Fluent in Spanish. English is desirable.
- Proactive and resilient profile.
- Team player and oriented to results.
- Project Management skills are key for success (as a high number of tasks are involved)
- Familiarity with delivering successful metrics and KPIs.
- Attention to detail.
- Stakeholder management experience at all levels.
- Strong ability to work with different teams across the organization.
- Knowledge of digital tools and channels (e.g. Microsoft Office)
- Environmental regulation knowledge is desirable.
- Business acumen and Risk management is desirable.
