About BHP
At BHP, we believe our purpose goes beyond mining: we work to improve lives and create a more sustainable future. We are a global resources company with operations in more than 90 locations worldwide.
In Canada, our presence is growing with the development of one of the most significant potash projects in the world — Jansen. This project reflects our long‑term commitment to sustainability, community engagement, and economic growth.
About Potash and the Jansen Project
Imagine being part of something truly world‑class, something that’s shaping the future of sustainable agriculture and responsible resource development. That’s what the Jansen Potash Project offers.
Located about 140 kilometres east of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Jansen is set to become one of the largest and most sustainable potash mines on the planet. With a CAD$14 billion (US$10.5 billion) investment, it marks the largest private investment in Saskatchewan’s history and a major milestone for BHP in Canada.
Jansen is more than a mine. It’s a long‑term opportunity to build something meaningful. During construction, the project will create approximately 5,500 jobs, and once operational, around 900 permanent roles. If you’re looking to grow your career while contributing to a lasting legacy, Jansen could be the place for you.
Why BHP?
At BHP, we are transforming the way mining is done. We embrace innovation, sustainability, and inclusion to build a smarter, safer, and more human future.
We are proud to be recognised as one of Canada’s Top 100 Employers for 2025, reflecting our commitment to a diverse, inclusive, and rewarding workplace. At BHP, you’ll join a team that values safety, integrity, performance, and collaboration.
The Challenge Ahead
As a Specialist Data & Digital, you’ll play a key role in making our potash operations safer, more reliable, and better connected.
This is a hands on role focused on turning real operational challenges into practical, easy to use data and digital solutions. You’ll design and build data pipelines, system integrations, and digital tools that frontline and business teams genuinely trust and use. Working closely with operational teams, IT, OT, and analytics colleagues, you’ll help ensure data flows reliably from source to insight—supporting better decisions on site and across the enterprise.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain reliable data pipelines from operational, IT, and third party systems.
- Develop and support system integrations using APIs, ETL/ELT tools, and approved enterprise platforms.
- Configure and support practical digital tools and low code solutions that meet real operational needs.
- Monitor data quality, reliability, and availability, responding quickly when issues arise.
- Ensure all solutions align with BHP’s architecture, cybersecurity, and data governance standards.
- Prepare and structure data to support analytics, reporting, and decision making.
- Contribute to reusable assets, standards, documentation, and best practices.
- Work collaboratively with business, IT, OT, analytics teams, and delivery partners to deliver fit for purpose solutions.
- Actively support testing, deployment, and adoption of solutions across the business.
- Design and build with safety, risk, and operational realities front of mind.
What You’ll Bring to the Role
- At least five years of hands‑on experience in data engineering, digital solutions, or a closely related field.
- Proven experience building and supporting data pipelines, system integrations, and interfaces.
- Experience working with cloud‑based data platforms and modern data architectures.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, applied to real operational challenges.
- The ability to communicate clearly with both technical specialists and non‑technical stakeholders.
- Experience in asset‑intensive, industrial, or operational environments is highly regarded.
- A practical, collaborative mindset and a genuine interest in delivering outcomes that matter.
