About the Role
The Constructability Specialist is part of the Execution Team and is responsible for providing technical support in the review of designs, strategies, and construction-related decisions, ensuring alignment with actual site conditions. The role supports the Execution Team by offering technical input and constructability guidelines to projects in the study phase, facilitating a smooth transition toward execution, with a focus on feasibility, efficiency, and regulatory compliance.
Responsibilities
- Support engineering study teams by communicating constructability criteria and guidelines to ensure that designs consider real terrain conditions, construction sequences, and execution strategies.
- Collaborate in the development and review of technical documents during the study phase, ensuring alignment with requirements defined by the Execution Team.
- Support the technical implementation of engineering deliverables, contributing to the traceability, constructability feasibility, and compliance with BHP and Asset standards and regulations.
- Actively participate in construction planning and technical coordination, providing input on sequence adjustments, potential conflicts, and interdisciplinary improvements.
- Support the review and analysis of Delivery Model criteria applied in the program and CAPEX projects, incorporating lessons learned and best practices.
- Participate in constructability workshops, offering technical input and promoting consistency with the current execution strategies.
- Assist in change management processes, including the collection, analysis, and traceability of construction-related data across project stages.
- Contribute to the identification of critical enablers such as access, material availability, water supply, and terrain readiness.
- Provide technical support to the Project Manager and SI Delivery Team, acting as a facilitator for achieving project scope, schedule, cost, and quality objectives.
About You
- Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in industrial or mining projects, with participation in constructability, program, and CAPEX processes during study and execution phases.
- Knowledge of applicable technical and regulatory standards in Chile.
- Understanding of design, permitting, procurement, and construction processes.
- Project management under structured methodologies.
- Proficiency in modeling and planning tools: AutoCAD, Navisworks, BIM, MS Project, Primavera P6, among others.
- Practical mindset and systems thinking.
- Ability to bridge engineering and execution perspectives.
- Effective communication, teamwork, and cross-functional collaboration.
- Proactivity, critical thinking, and results orientation.
