 About the Role

 

BHP Olympic Dam is currently seeking an experienced and qualified EEHA Inspector to join the Surface Electrical Team. This is an excellent opportunity to join a motivated and respected team within the Olympic Dam Mine, supporting critical operations with a strong focus on compliance, safety, and technical excellence.

 

Reporting to the Surface Electrical Coordinator will be a key contributor, working with Electrical and Instrumentation Technicians who ultimately deliver E&I maintenance activities ensure compliance with weekly maintenance schedules, operating standards, procedures and defined processes to achieve optimal maintenance outcomes for the Surface operation. 

 

Roster: 

 

This role will ideally work a 5/2 4/3 roster.  A hybrid role: The incumbent with both work from our state-of-the-art Adelaide CBD Offices in the GPO Exchange Building, as well as from our Olympic Dam site office, with a regular weekly presence on-site.  The structure of this arrangement has flexibility and will collaborate around right applicant.

 

In this role you will:-

 

  • Verify detailed and visual inspections of electrical equipment in hazardous areas in accordance with AS/NZS 60079 standards and other relevant regulations
  • Ensure competency of workers completing EEHA inspections
  • Liaise with and assist Risk and Control owners to manage Hazardous Area Risks
  • Review completed inspection forms, verify accuracy and ensure reports have been saved to CMMS (SAP)
  • Manage HA dossier and Ex register to comply with statutory requirements
  • Single point accountability to ensure Ex register is up to date at all times
  • Perform Entity calculations for replacement and new equipment installations to ensure compatibility with existing electrical infrastructure
  • Support hazardous area classification (HAC) reviews and assist in updating drawings and documentation
  • Collaborate within a highly experienced execution team in a high-performing and safety-focused environment
  • Liaise with Surface Reliability Team's to ensure EEHA Maintenance strategies are effective and up to date

 

About You

 

  • South Australian A-Class Electrical licence  or degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Certificate IV in Electrical Equipment for Hazardous Areas (EEHA).
  • EEHA Design and Classification is desirable but not essential.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical compliance in hazardous areas.
  • Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills and a demonstrated history of influencing outcomes across multiple departments.
  • Some experience working with CMMS (SAP).
  • Exceptional attention to detail and an ability to process work in a methodical, concise format.
  • Highly developed organisational and scheduling skills
  • Positive attitude, strong work ethic, flexibility and willingness to see work through to completion
