We are seeking a capable Specialist Engineer to join the Mine Planning team at Goonyella Riverside Mine. Reporting to the Superintendent Mine Planning, this role plays a critical part in translating mine strategy into executable short‑term plans that safely and efficiently support operations.

The role will initially focus on short‑term planning and truck‑and‑shovel activities, providing a strong foundation in plan execution, risk management, and operational engagement. Over time, there will be opportunities to broaden experience across other planning areas, aligned to business needs and individual development.

This role is offered on an 8/6 roster, with FIFO, DIDO or residential options available.

In this role you will:

  • Develop short-term mine designs that support robust schedules, with an initial focus on truck and shovel operations
  • Work closely with operations to translate plans from concept through to execution
  • Identify, communicate and manage risks and constraints within the short-term planning horizon
  • Monitor plan execution, drive schedule compliance and maintain focus on critical path activities
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives across production planning
  • Build strong collaborative relationships with operational teams and planning functions

About You

As the successful candidate, you will have a tertiary education background in Mining Engineering or relevant tertiary qualification with previous experience working at an operations level. Your demonstrated experience working in mine planning teams particularly designing and planning for open cut coal mines will see you succeed in this role.

As well as your strong communication and interpersonal skills, you will have demonstrated ability to build relationships across departments and able to communicate at all levels. A strong working knowledge of design tools (Deswik/Vulcan), Microsoft Office, software packages are desirable.

You will also be a performance and achievement oriented professional, who is motivated by exceeding expectations and providing excellent results.
