About the Role
This Specialist Environment role is required to deliver environmental functional expertise for Copper South Australia to successfully meet environmental regulatory and reporting requirements to enable business continuity and maintain our Licence to Operate. Key to this role will be - supporting the delivery of the Environment components of the Integrated Management System, environmental reporting, assessments and site monitoring activities as required, providing specialist advice on environmental regulatory matters and supporting key stakeholders in providing, and analysing environmental data to meet reporting obligations.
The role will be a permanent opportunity within the Planning, Technical & Environment team based in Adelaide on a 5/2 roster with regular travel to site.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Comply to and consistently follow the standards and procedures designed to enable you to work safely and effectively every day
- Environmental Reporting to meet regulatory and BHP requirements
- Support the development and operation of the EMS for CuSA
- Support operational site compliance and monitoring activities for CuSA
- Developing work instructions and databases to effectively manage environmental procedures and data
- Manage, maintain and update GIS and G-LUP data when required.
- Analyse environmental data and processes to identify and improve systems, process and procedures.
- Undertake assigned tasks in accordance with 1SAP Work Management process
- Demonstrate an overriding commitment to health, safety, environmental responsibility and sustainable development.
- Identify and implement opportunities to improve productivity, efficiency and cost effectiveness.
- Participate in workplace investigations as required.
- Maintain strong working relationship with relevant external and internal stakeholders to achieve required environmental outcomes.
About You
- Proven commitment to look after your own wellbeing and the confidence to speak up when others put themselves in harm’s way
- Adhere to and demonstrate BHP Charter Values.
- Tertiary qualification in Environmental Science, Engineering, or equivalent
- Professional with a minimum 3 years’ experience in environmental science/management related work
- Ability to analyse environmental data
- Proficiency in the use of ESRI ArcGIS and spatial data management.
- Ecology / botany experience will be highly regarded
