About the Role

 

BMA are seeking a passionate and experienced Environmental Specialist to join our Environment team. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to sustainable practices while working in a collaborative and high-performing team.

Reporting to the Superintendent Environment Operations, the Specialist Environment provides subject matter expertise into the design and establishment of environment standards, procedures and systems while facilitating and supporting line management for environmental risk assessments, event investigation, field leadership and compliance. You will utilise your excellent relationship building and people skills to deliver a wide range of environmental services and initiatives.



In this role you will be required to:

  • Work in partnership with line leadership to employ effective controls to manage environmental risks
  • Interact and consult with operational teams to provide technical environmental advice and support
  • Manage environmental data and associated databases
  • Execute environmental disturbance permitting
  • Undertake environmental sampling activities
  • Perform data validation of all environmental monitoring data for inclusion in internal and external reports
  • Monitor and report on various environmental aspects 
  • Manage third-party contracts


This role can be offered residentially, or from Brisbane with travel provided. Flexible work options will be considered. 

 

About You

 

To be successful in this role, you will be able to work both independently and as part of a team. Attention to detail will be a vital attribute, along with strong business acumen and the ability to build consultative and influential relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.

You will also have:

 

  • Tertiary Qualification in Environmental Management, Environmental Science or Environmental Engineering
  • Site based experience within the resources industry
  • Experience in addressing legislative environmental requirements
  • Current Australian Drivers licence
  • Sound GIS capabilities will also be highly regarded
