About the Role

 

The purpose of the External Affairs (EA) Operations team is to enable and amplify the impact of our EA team. The team focus on strategy, analysis, and transformation, enabling External Affairs to navigate its complex and changing internal and external environment and focus on its core mandates. Focused on partnering with EA sub-functions to identify and deliver transformation and improvement opportunities and initiatives (including technology improvements) that leave a positive impact on the culture, capabilities, and performance of EA, and transform how the team works. 

 

  • Experience in continuous Improvement to enhance efficiency, drive optimisation, and maximise value for BHP.
  • Collect, interpret, analyse, and model data, including data development, identification and visualisation, to draw out insights and reporting that enables customers to make informed decisions.
  • Define and structure business problems to understand what can be addressed using analytics, designs analytics solutions/dashboards and accesses and cleanse data to prepare it for the analysis process.
  • Conduct, optimise and support timely and accurate budget planning, preparation, forecast, accruals, reporting (financial and other) to drive insights that guide data driven actions and decision-making. 
  • Build and maintain dashboards to assist with data visualisation and self-service across the Function and undertake enhancements of reporting tools and dashboards, including automated reporting, and support with system queries, e.g. PowerBI
  • Navigates companywide processes and systems and works collaboratively with our business partners to deliver process improvement initiatives to empower and enable EA and improve efficiency and standardisation.
  • Reporting to the Lead Functional Analysis and Performance, the role supports EA globally.
  • Supports routine Functional benchmarking, ad hoc BHP Projects, external market analysis and horizon scanning to ensure that EA remains a future focussed, innovative and world class team.

About You

 

  • Advanced analytical and critical thinking skills and high attention to detail and the ability to present findings in a polished way.
  • Hands on experience using and developing a variety of data analytics and data visualisation tools, e.g. Power BI and Nintex
  • Experience in planning, budgeting, and forecasting. 
  • Works collaborative to deliver process and performance improvements. 
  • Be pro-active with an ability to navigate conflicting priorities and time critical deadlines. 
  • Ability to learn quickly and display an adaptable and flexible approach to supporting a large global stakeholder base
  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Finance, mathematics, business management, or economics
  • Advanced experience using and developing a variety of data analytics and data visualisation tools.
  • Able to work in a team and independently, preferably with a Finance or data analysis background.
