About the Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a proactive, dynamic and highly astute finance professional to join the BMA Finance team. This role is based in Brisbane with frequent travel to the BMA operational mine sites in central Queensland.
Key responsibilities for the role will include:
- Finance business partnering for BMA – Influencing and challenging the teams in cost control and productivity, capital allocation and efficiency and continuous improvement
- Engage with operational teams to identify, advise and evaluate productivity and value creation initiatives along with understanding and quantifying plan delivery risk.
- Review business case development and investment evaluation on operational capital and continuous improvement projects.
- Ad-hoc analysis and reporting to communicate hypotheses and financial recommendations.
- Coach and build business acumen with the Finance Business Partners along with key stakeholders in financial knowledge and the use of information systems to determine cost and budget outcomes and to improve understanding of financial implications of decision making.
- Stakeholder Engagement and Collaboration through working with several stakeholders from operations, other functions (Supply, Asset Projects, Engineering, Risk, Human Resources, Technology) and the wider Global Finance Function such as Planning & Analytics, Accounting & Reporting, Tax and Investment Evaluation.
- Identify and implement opportunities for the continual improvement within the department.
- Identifies, engages, and manages a range of diverse internal and external stakeholders.
- Applies an understanding of the business context and end-to-end value chain to deliver value maximising opportunities.
- Identifies areas for process improvement and redesign processes accordingly.
- Translates corporate objectives into actionable plans, communicating, managing, and analysing the implementation of those plans, and reporting back on their progress to facilitate the delivery of our strategy.

About You
We have a strong focus on finding individuals with the right values, leadership and communication skills. Your interpersonal skills will foster collaborative working relationships and your ability to consolidate and analyse information will provide critical thinking and a solution-focused attitude.
You will have:
- Minimum 3 years of relevant experience.
- Someone who likes to problem solve and influence key decisions.
- Strong analytical skills identify emerging trends and spot opportunities Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain collaborative, effective and outcomes-based working relationships with diverse teams and individuals.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, allowing you to build strong relationships, communicate and influence at all levels of the organisation to drive the right value outcomes for BHP.
- Excellent written & verbal communication skills.
- Able to manage multiple business priorities simultaneously.
- Interest in understanding the mining sector including the end-to-end process/value chain.
- A passion for displaying financial data in an impactful way to drive action/facilitate understanding.
