About the Role


This role provides technical expertise in the study of the earth, including the collection, analysis, and interpretation of geological data to provide technical guidance for decision making relating to exploration geology. This role is primarily Toronto office-based, with the flexibility for occasional remote work to achieve work life balance. In this role you will:

•    Integrate multiple geoscientific datasets with a mineral systems approach to generate, evaluate, and prioritize exploration opportunities at the global belt-scale, aligned with BHP Exploration global strategy.
•    Identify potential opportunity value, risks, and uncertainties.
•    Perform belt-scale 4D geological modelling that fully integrates and honours multiple geoscientific datasets, utilizing the mineral systems approach to the given commodity. 
•    Identify and deploy the best predictive tools for defining a concept stage generative project.
•    Plan, track, and manage the delivery of concept generation projects to schedule. 
•    Collaborate with global commodity specific Generative Exploration and Exploration Excellence & Innovation teams to enhance prospectivity assessments and concept generation.
•    Identify, engage, and manage diverse internal and external stakeholders, including Operations, Health, Safety, & Environment, Land Access, and Corporate Affairs to frame concept stage generative exploration opportunities efficiently and safely.

About You


•    Bachelor or Master of Science in Geosciences required. 
•    Big picture thinker. 
•    Experience in mineral systems-based evaluation of subsurface resources, with demonstrated knowledge of at least one Copper system sub-type (e.g. Porphyry or Sediment-Hosted) required.
•    Practical experience in supporting or leading successful metals exploration programs, with exposure to discovery is favorable.
•    Able to clearly articulate exploration opportunities through technical report writing, visual and verbal presentation.
•    Demonstrated effective project management skills, from idea generation through to delivery.
•    Working proficiency in common industry software applications (e.g. ArcGIS, Leapfrog, ioGas, AcQuire). 
•    Experience in machine learning & 
predictive analysis applications highly favorable.
•    Experienced integrator with strong communication skills and collaborative, driven, and proactive work ethic.
•    Strong commitment to safety, inclusion, and respectful behaviors.

•    Fluent/working knowledge of English is preferred.
