About BHP

At BHP we support our people to grow, learn, develop their skills and reach their potential. With a global portfolio of operations, we offer a diverse and inclusive environment with extraordinary career opportunities. Our strategy is to focus on creating a safe work environment where our employees feel strongly connected to our values and objectives, and where the capability of our people is key to our success.

Come and be a part of this success.

About the Role

The Specialist Human Resources coaches and enables line leaders to navigate the complexities of HR in a matrixed organisation and a changing industrial landscape.

In line with the Asset People Strategy, you will support and build leader capability in effective:

-    employee engagement and development across diverse teams,
-    change management execution on activities designed to simplify and standardise,
-    HR policy interpretation and application; and
-    cultural initiative ownership, problem solving and delivery.

You will be predominantly site based (minimum 3 days per week, FIFO Perth) and a part of an integrated WAIO HR Business Partnership & HR Consulting team.  The role requires a combination of independent work and delivery as part of this team or a combined team across our HR sub-functions and/or line leaders, mainly Superintendents and Supervisors.

Work is delivered in a planned way against our strategy, however there is an element of on-demand support for leaders required as operational needs evolve and change.  This could see you providing local advice or problem solving on people matters, through to site or Asset project participation in talent, reward, team effectiveness, capability and labour productivity initiatives.

These are newly created roles due to an increased demand from the business to support high priority work and will be offered as 2-year fixed term appointments.

About You

You are an experienced HR generalist, HR degree or related discipline qualified, and preferably within mining or heavy industry.  This means an applied understanding across the full spectrum of HR, expertise in foundational HR processes and an appreciation for HR data and systems.

An inquisitive mind sees you seeking to understand, problem solving to discover root cause and finding practical solutions; forever striving for improvement.  You are confident interacting with mining leaders and frontline employees alike, able to influence site ways of working to stay within the HR operating model and becoming their trusted advisor.

Location and Roster

Western Australia Iron Ore (WAIO) is an integrated system of four processing hubs and five mines, connected by more than 1,000 kilometres of rail infrastructure and port facilities in the Pilbara region of northern Western Australia.

You will be employed on a 5/2 & 4/3 Hybrid roster, requiring a minimum of 3 days per week on site and the remaining days a combination of Perth office for team and function connection, and work from home flexibility.

Part-time and flexible work options are also offered.
