About the Role

Prominent Hill is copper-gold mine, a long-life asset, that is part of the BHP South Australia copper province.  BHP is a global company with operations in Australia, North and South America across 5 different commodities. 

 

We are seeking an experienced IT Support Technician, responsible for resolving IT issues quickly and efficiently whilst delivering quality IT support across our business units. Our Prominent Hill utilises a variety of technologies and as such, the successful candidate will be required to, and be capable of providing support in a fast paced and fun environment, with constantly evolving to stakeholder requirements. 

 

Location: Carrapateena, South Australia (60-minute flight from Adelaide / 30-minute flight from Port Augusta)
Roster: 8 days on; 6 days off


In this role you will:

 

  • Support, maintain, develop, and deliver quality ICT support. 
  • Maintain ICT desktop systems, products, and services in line with Prominent Hill business unit expectations always in terms of scope, performance and quality.
  • Support the development and delivery of ICT desktop systems-based products and services that support the effective daily operations of BHP and strategic positioning of the Prominent Hill business units.
  • Assist Prominent Hill business units in the application of ICT desktop systems for business transformation and improvement.
  • Support the resolution of customer ICT desktop system issues within agreed timeframes that reflect business impact and importance.
  • Liaise with ICT staff and contractors to ensure Prominent Hill ICT desktop systems requirements and issues are understood and actioned appropriately.
  • Assist local business units in the effective use of ICT systems related assets.
  • Ensure routine network and server maintenance is completed according to scheduled requirements.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance existing ICT desktop and associated products and services operations to optimise efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Ensure business data and backups are kept safe, backed up and restored if required.
     

About You

 

The ideal candidate will possess the following skills:

 

  • Tertiary qualifications in Information Technology, Business, Computer Science, or equivalent.
  • At least 3+ years’ experience in supporting significant ICT desktop systems, including the development and enhancement of these technologies and systems.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills, and ability to identify dependencies between scheduled tasks and activities.
  • Previous experience and understanding of ICT operations and service, problem, event, and change management. 
  • Demonstrated knowledge of ICT Service strategies and lifecycle plans.
  • Basic understanding of ICT system development, enhancement and support policies and processes, including system development methodologies.
  • Previous experience with Windows Server Network support administration (DNS, DHCP, WINS), Windows OS patching and Microsoft Office suite. 
  • General understanding of ICT/OT services for mine dispatching systems – Leica Jigsaw and/or Modular Mining, and other related mining systems. 
  • Well-developed time management and prioritisation skills, with high attention to detail, excellent communication skills. 
  • Proven experience with ability to adjust or change to best meet the needs of the situation or environment to deliver upon project outcomes.
  • Ability to exercise sound reasoning to analyse information and data, make decisions and overcome problems to achieve positive outcomes.
  • Demonstrated experience at establishing and maintaining productive relationships and working collaboratively to achieve results.
