About BHP

At BHP, we believe our purpose goes beyond mining: we work to improve lives and create a more sustainable future. We are a global resources company with operations in more than 90 locations worldwide.

In Canada, our presence is growing with the development of one of the most significant potash projects in the world — Jansen. This project reflects our long‑term commitment to sustainability, community engagement, and economic growth.

About Potash and the Jansen Project

Imagine being part of something truly world‑class — something shaping the future of sustainable agriculture and responsible resource development. That’s what the Jansen Potash Project offers.

Located about 140 kilometres east of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Jansen is set to become one of the largest and most sustainable potash mines on the planet. With a CAD$14 billion (US$10.5 billion) investment, it represents the largest private investment in Saskatchewan’s history, and a bold step forward for BHP in Canada.

But Jansen is more than a mine; it’s a long‑term opportunity to build something meaningful. During construction, it will create ~5,500 jobs, and once operating, ~900 permanent roles. Whether you're looking to grow your career, contribute to a sustainable future, or be part of a legacy project, Jansen could be the place where it all begins.

Why BHP?

At BHP, we are transforming the way mining is done. We embrace innovation, sustainability, and inclusion to build a smarter, safer, and more human future.
We are proud to be recognized as one of Canada’s Top 100 Employers for 2025, a testament to our dedication to fostering a positive, diverse, and rewarding work environment. Here, you’ll be part of a team that values safety, integrity, performance, and collaboration.

The Challenge Ahead

As Specialist LTE & Radio, you will play a key role in ensuring the reliability, availability, and performance of industrial communications services that support safe and efficient potash operations at Jansen.

This role contributes to the design, build, operation, and ongoing maintenance of critical telecommunications networks, including LTE, radio, microwave, and wireless systems. Working closely with site operations and technical stakeholders, you will help translate operational needs into secure, scalable, and resilient communications solutions that support 24/7 mining activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the design, implementation, operation, and maintenance of industrial communications infrastructure, including LTE, digital radio, wireless, microwave, backhaul technologies, and edge computing.
  • Translate business and operational requirements into secure, scalable, and resilient telecommunications solutions.
  • Act as the primary technical contact for LTE and wireless communications services across Potash Technology Operations.
  • Design, configure, integrate, test, deploy, and commission communications infrastructure within the operational technology environment.
  • Perform routine health checks on eNodeB, EPC core networks, and backhaul infrastructure to ensure reliable connectivity for production‑critical systems.
  • Proactively monitor network performance against defined SLAs, OLAs, and operational KPIs.
  • Lead technical support for Level 1 and Level 2 incidents across communications systems, including incident resolution and root cause analysis.
  • Implement approved network changes in accordance with formal change management processes across RAN, core, and supporting infrastructure.
  • Ensure effective risk controls, service continuity planning, and disaster recovery testing across managed communications systems.
  • Collaborate with site operations, asset teams, and technical partners to align communications activities with mine planning and operational requirements.
  • Challenge and assure the technical quality of work packages prior to execution, promoting safe, reliable, and value‑focused outcomes.

What You’ll Bring to the Role

  • Tertiary qualification in Engineering, Information Technology, Telecommunications, or trade equivalent.
  • At least six years of experience supporting communications systems in industrial or mining operational environments.
  • Strong knowledge of 4G and 5G technologies based on 3GPP standards, including multi‑vendor LTE networks.
  • Experience designing, planning, deploying, commissioning, and operating wireless and LTE networks.
  • Demonstrated capability in incident management, problem solving, and root cause analysis within high‑pressure operational settings.
  • Working knowledge of ITIL‑aligned service management practices and tools, including ServiceNow.
  • Understanding of RF design, optimisation, network security, and risk management practices.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across site‑based and technical teams.
  • A proactive, safety‑focused mindset with a commitment to delivering reliable, customer‑focused outcomes.
