About the Role

 

 

Reporting to the Lead Procurement Value Chain Global Mining, the role drives performance and excellence through the Procurement team, delivering world class commercial outcomes for BHP’s operations in Chile.


Main Accountabilities:


•    An overriding commitment to health, safety, environmental responsibility and sustainable development.
•    Develop effective relationships with internal business leaders to
understand business requirements, to forecast demand, and verify established contracts are effective.
•    Identify opportunities to execute initiatives to reduce external spend.
•    Develops collaborative relationships with suppliers to ensure optimum delivery quality and
sustained performance in line with business objectives. 
•    Identifies and implements improvement initiatives in the Mining category, managing our portfolio and creating synergies with other subfunctions.
•    Work collaboratively across Commercial (Region, Global and across sub-functions) and operational stakeholders to develop and execute category strategies, opportunities to reduce external spend through demand, price and productivity levers. 
•    Collects requirements and analyses key data inputs from multiple sources (internal and external) to build robust category and sourcing strategies. 
•    Leading sourcing and negotiation strategies using market intelligence and best practice tools such as clean sheeting, TCO analysis etc. 
•    Ensures integration of the category strategy across the function (Purchasing, warehouse, inventory, logistic, COMEX, Payments, A&I, Marketing) and Operations, to ensure lowest inbound supply chain cost. 
•    Creates, manages and monitors contracts
•    Executes supplier performance reviews to track performance with contract and business requirements. 

 

About You

 

 

To be a top performer you will need:


•    A bachelor’s degree related to the role. 
•    5+ years of relevant industry experience with a focus on category management experience
•    Proven ability to influence and engage across functions and operational sites 
•    Advanced Spanish and English 
•    Availability to travel sporadically to Mining Sites
