About the Role
Reporting the to the Superintendent Operations, Exploration, the Specialist Operations is responsible for the safe and efficient planning, supervision and execution of all exploration field activities in alignment with organizational standards and commitments and regulatory requirements.
Key Accountabilities
- The role is accountable for supervising and safely executing all field activities within the defined scope, schedule, and cost objectives.
- Develops plans and schedules for geoscience operations activities, implements updates and corrective measures for non-compliances and effectively communicates these to impacted stakeholders to enable contracts and activities to be completed within their relevant time horizon.
- Identifies and assesses risks, makes risk informed decisions and builds a risk aware culture to support safe and productive performance outcomes.
- Identifies, engages, and manages a range of diverse internal and external stakeholders.
- Supervises the execution of field activities and carries out workplace inspections of safety and efficiency.
- Verifies compliance to plan, budget, and contract.
- Assesses the feasibility of data collection sites, supervises the execution of pre- and post-drilling requirements, directs the collection of geoscientific data, and carries out workplace inspections, while ensuring compliance to plan, budget and contract.
- Plans, tracks the delivery of and manages a project to generate value and drive the achievement of project outcomes.
- Prioritizes work effort and resources accordingly.
- Determines the underlying cause of problems and evaluates multiple solutions to ensure a planned and structured approach to solving complex problems.
- Creating and sustaining a mature safety culture through engaging, developing, and coaching of contractor partners.
- Building strong effective working relationships across multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders, including external business partners.
- Knows our customer and is obsessed with meeting their needs.
About You
- Degree in Engineering, Project Management or equivalent experience in Operations related discipline.
- At least 5 years of working experience in exploration projects including field supervision in their phases, i.e. earthworks, drilling, geophysics.
- Strong leadership and communication skills, ability to work with multicultural teams and engage and influence a broad range of stakeholders.
- Experience in establishing, leading, and supervising remote exploration work sites.
- Demonstrated strong planning, organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Adaptability to work in remote locations and availability to work on shifts (7X7 or similar) on a regular basis, when projects requieres it.
- Intermediate or higher proficiency in English is required.
- Knowledge in project management software required, i.e. MS Project, etc.
- Knowledge in ArcGIS.
