About the Role

 
The Specialist Payroll Improvement plays a key role in strengthening BHP’s payroll execution by driving initiatives that enhance accuracy, compliance, and operational efficiency. In this role, you will focus on elevating the customer experience through the delivery of payroll improvement projects, ensuring alignment with business commitments, legal requirements, and BHP’s global standards.
As a subject matter expert, you will provide governance, insights, and technical coaching to resolve payroll issues and support informed decision-making. You will work collaboratively with diverse BHP teams to ensure high-quality service and seamless integration of payroll solutions across the broader HR end-to-end process. With a strong focus on continuous improvement, you will contribute to global and regional projects while promoting health, safety, and sustainability in every activity. This role requires solid payroll expertise and proven experience in Design, Testing, and post-implementation support for payroll initiatives.
 

Main Responsibilities

 

  • Lead and support payroll process improvement projects to strengthen accuracy, compliance, and efficiency.
  • Act as a payroll subject matter expert, providing technical guidance across projects and specific requirements.
  • Validate payroll processes to ensure quality and alignment with corporate and legal commitments.
  • Ensure solutions are consistent with other payroll processes and aligned with the broader HR end-to-end ecosystem.
  • Manage compliance and risk by identifying deviations and recommending corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with HR global and regional teams to deploy payroll improvement initiatives and projects.
  • Provide insights and local context to resolve operational issues and support decision-making.
  • Drive continuous improvement through data analysis, governance practices, and process optimisation.

 

About You

 

  • University degree in Human Resources, Business, or Technology.
  • 5+ years of experience in payroll processes, with deep technical knowledge in taxation, benefits, and Chilean labor legislation.
  • Experience in payroll project delivery within global organizations, ideally in the mining industry.
  • Proficiency with SAP HCM, SuccessFactors, and advanced Excel (Power BI is an advantage).
  • Intermediate to advanced English proficiency, with the ability to collaborate effectively with global teams.
