About the Role
In this role, you will drive performance and excellence across the Procurement function, delivering the best commercial outcomes for BHP MinAM assets. You will think strategically beyond day‑to‑day execution, challenging the status quo and leveraging BHP’s global buying power to create sustainable value.
Working closely with global procurement teams, operations, and key internal stakeholders, you will develop and execute medium‑ and long‑term category strategies aligned with business priorities. You will apply a strong end‑to‑end supply chain perspective to optimize cost, performance, and reliability, while ensuring integration across purchasing, logistics, inventory, warehousing, payments, and operations.
Safety, environmental responsibility, and sustainable development are central to everything you do. You will also embrace the use of data, analytics, and AI to complement human expertise and enhance procurement outcomes.
Main Responsibilities
- Demonstrate an overriding commitment to health, safety, environmental responsibility, and sustainable development.
- Develop and execute strategic category plans with a 3+ year horizon, aligned with global and regional procurement strategies.
- Leverage BHP’s global spend and market intelligence to challenge existing approaches and deliver value for MinAM assets.
- Build strong, collaborative relationships with internal stakeholders to understand business needs, forecast demand, and ensure contract effectiveness.
- Establish and maintain productive partnerships with suppliers to drive quality, performance, and long‑term value.
- Identify and implement improvement initiatives across procurement categories, creating synergies with other sub‑functions.
- Develop and deliver action plans with operations to achieve commercial, productivity, and performance KPIs.
- Lead sourcing and negotiation strategies using best‑practice tools such as chessboard analysis, clean sheeting, e‑Auctions, TCO analysis, and cost modeling.
- Define mid‑ and long‑term category strategies incorporating global and regional market analysis and future asset requirements.
- Ensure category strategies are fully integrated across purchasing, warehousing, inventory, logistics, COMEX, payments, A&I, marketing, and operations to achieve the lowest inbound supply chain cost.
- Execute supplier performance reviews, tracking compliance with contractual and business requirements.
- Establish structured and collaborative engagement routines with key stakeholders.
- Apply a strong understanding of end‑to‑end supply chain processes to drive efficiency, optimization, and value creation.
- Use AI and digital tools to enhance decision‑making and execution effectiveness.
About You
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
- At least 3 years of relevant industry experience, with a strong focus on supply chain or procurement.
- Proven ability to influence, engage, and collaborate across functions and mine operation sites.
- Strong analytical capability to assess complex business processes, risks, and control systems.
- Demonstrated experience in financial evaluations and commercial project modeling.
- Solid knowledge of materials management and logistics processes.
- Advanced Spanish and English skills, both written and spoken.
- Experience working with SAP, Microsoft Office tools, and contract management systems.
