Mt Arthur Coal is an open-cut coal mine 100 per cent owned by BHP. Located in the Hunter Valley, New South Wales it's the largest producer of energy coal in the region, operating alongside olive growers, wine makers, horse breeders and the nearby residential community of Muswellbrook.

About the Role

 

Reporting to the Superintendent Reliability & Planning, your role as a Reliability Specialist will be to provide technical support to the Maintenance team by applying Reliability Centred Maintenance principles in driving defect elimination, improvement initiatives and identifying opportunities to support safe and reliable operations.

 

The role is, located in Muswellbrook on a Monday-Friday roster.

 

In this role you will:

  • Lead reliability improvements and the elimination of defects in the end-to-end maintenance system inclusive of defects in parts, procedures, work quality and processes
  • Track equipment downtime and generate analytical reports to identify trends and drive continuous improvement.
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities to support strategic and operational objectives.
  • Develop and optimise maintenance strategies to reduce failure risk and improve uptime
  • Analyse failure data and lead RCA investigations
  • Conduct risk assessments to support safe and reliable operations
  • Develop and increase the capability of the maintenance execution team to drive safety, reliability, efficiency & quality of work
  • Demonstrate alignment to BHP Charter Values and Our Code of Business Conduct
  • Demonstrate safety leadership by completing Field Leadership interactions to continuously improve safety performance

About You

 

  • Tertiary Qualifications in engineering (Mechanical or Electrical Engineering)
  • Experience in reliability within mining, mineral processing, or heavy industry
  • Strong understanding of mining equipment mechanical or electrical systems.
  • Organisational skills with a focus on managing changing priorities and deliverables.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a collaborative approach to finding practical solutions utilising continuous improvement processes
  • Well-developed communication and engagement skills with a diverse group of local and remote stakeholders and groups.
  • Experience working with 1SAP or other Work Management Systems
  • Experience with Master Data and Continues Improvement will deem advantageous.
  • Trade qualified is preferred, but not essential, knowledge of HME will be highly regarded
