About the Role
As part of the Functions Finance Business Partnership (FFBP) team, the Specialist Analytics will be accountable for delivery of advanced data analytics to enable value-based decision-making and effective management of functional costs.
This will require the team member to be able to work with functions representatives, to take ideas and hypotheses, and through working with data, provide the insights required to progress to solutions and improve the productivity outcome for the function.
The role requires the candidate to be able to work with complex data sets and draw out insights. Core skills required will include data wrangling techniques, complex data analysis, visualisation, complex data set management, automation, and to a degree data Science and modelling.
Successful candidate will also have the opportunity to:
- Partner with Planning & Analysis (P&A) Leadership team as well as functional stakeholders to identify and develop data driven solutions in aid or improving the productivity outcome for BHP Global Functions
- Develop and execute an internal strategic roadmap of initiatives aimed at bringing a level of internal sophistication in functional cost reporting
- Develop the strategic roadmap of data driven systems and tools to enable value-based decision-making and effective management of functional costs through understanding cost drivers and total cost of ownership
- Develop process automation where practical
- Owns the landscape of Analytics tools and systems, including configuration maintenance and analysis
- Oversee and manage the configuration, design, testing and deployment of dashboards, reports, and underlying data models, including the structured process of on-boarding new data sources
- Ensure operations processes are followed and used for changes to data, cost model, or reporting
- Manage the Analytics tools change log and deploys resources as required to implement changes
- Develop and coordinate training, materials, and guides around tools and systems including QRGs and other guides
- Monitor and recommend processes to P&A Leadership teams to improve and optimise data accuracy
- Investigate and resolve data issues with data source integrations and work with data source owners to communicate known data issues
About You
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Technology, or related field
- Advanced technical skills in SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC) report creation, maintenance and advanced troubleshooting
- Advanced design and development experience using the Microsoft Power Platform (including Power BI, Power Apps, Power Automate)
- Advanced skills in MS SQL to work with complex datasets, data governance models and database management, and technical experience in visualisations, automation, and analytics
- Skilled as member of a team running in an Agile Scrum Framework (any role)
- Able to provide business advice to senior stakeholders on business management related matters, including familiarity with data management and Analytics strategy development
- Facilitation of, and presentation to senior stakeholders
