About the Role

 

In this role, you will be primarily responsible for managing the development and deployment of reward projects, frameworks and tools across the Americas Region, with a strong focus on supporting Reward Partnership activities across locations in the Americas.  You will work with complex data sets and transform numerical analysis into meaningful insights and recommendations that support business decisions.
You will contribute to the continuous evolution of BHP’s Total Reward approach, bringing adaptability, creativity and influence to implement improvement initiatives in a constantly changing environment. The role also involves leading end-to-end reward-related projects, partnering with internal stakeholders and external providers, and acting as a subject matter expert on remuneration and benefit practices at both global and local levels. The position is based in Santiago, Chile, and operates under a hybrid work model.

 


Main Responsibilities

 

  • Support, lead and recommend the design, implementation and ongoing maintenance of BHP’s Total Reward structure, including remuneration, benefits, recognition and wellbeing programs, in close partnership with central Reward teams.
  • Act as the Americas regional point of contact for key global reward BAU programs, ensuring effective deployment, ongoing governance and alignment with global standards.
  • Lead end-to-end projects related to remuneration, benefits, health insurance and other reward services, including leadership of bidding and vendor selection processes.
  • Provide subject matter expertise and technical support on remuneration and benefit programs across the Americas Region, supporting the Reward Partnership and ensuring alignment with global frameworks and local requirements.
  • Proactively analyse and interpret external salary market data, trends, forecasts and movements, translating insights into clear recommendations for internal stakeholders.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives by applying analytical thinking, creativity and influence to enhance reward frameworks, tools and processes.
  • Collaborate closely with internal teams and external partners to ensure effective delivery of reward initiatives that support business priorities.

 

About You

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Business Administration (Commercial Engineering), Psychology or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of experience in multinational companies and/or consulting firms.
  • Proven experience implementing or leading an end-to-end change project in Total Rewards area (Benefits, compensations systems).
  • Strong logical and analytical thinking, with the ability to translate complex data into clear, visual and influential insights.
  • Proven ability to translate data analytics into commercial insights and strategic business priorities.
  • Experience leading end-to-end projects with high exposure and multiple stakeholders.
  • Solid understanding of HR practices, with particular strength in reward-related topics.
  • Excellent communication skills, high attention to detail and strong analytical capability.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Fluency in both Spanish and English.

 

Highly regarded additional experience includes:

  • Technical expertise in remuneration and benefit programs, reward practices and methodologies.
  • Experience supporting collective bargaining processes.
  • Experience leading bidding and vendor management processes.
  • Knowledge of incentive plans, bonus pooling and related reward processes.
  • Experience in global organizations, with exposure to people management responsibilities (direct or indirect).
