Purpose of the Role

 

To execute operational reward and benefits activities while supporting the delivery, governance, continuous improvement, and data-driven management of BHP's reward programs.

 

The role combines strong analytical capability with HR Reward Operations, ensuring high-quality reward data, reporting, modelling, and insights that support business decision-making. Working in partnership with onshore Reward SMEs and key stakeholders, the Specialist will deliver cyclical and BAU reward activities while driving process improvements, automation opportunities, and data integrity across reward and benefits programs.

About the Role

 

Reporting to the Lead Reward, this role is responsible for executing Reward Operations activities across remuneration, benefits, job evaluation, reporting, governance, and stakeholder support.

 

The Specialist will manage operational reward activities while applying a strong focus on data quality, analysis, reporting, and continuous improvement. The role requires the ability to identify trends, derive actionable insights from complex datasets, challenge the status quo, and support informed business decisions through data-driven recommendations.

 

You will work closely with HR, Reward, Payroll, Finance, Digital and external vendors to ensure reward processes are aligned with BHP Reward Policies, governance requirements, and operational excellence standards.

Benefits Administration

  • Support benefit programs including leave, wellness, insurance, and other employee benefit offerings.
  • Assist with benefits enrolment, vendor management, contract renewals, compliance monitoring, and employee communications.
  • Partner with vendors to resolve operational, data, or system discrepancies.

 

Process Improvement & Systems Enablement

  • Support process optimisation, automation, digitisation, and reporting enhancements.
  • Improve workflows, templates, and reporting solutions to increase efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Assist with system enhancements, integrations, testing, and implementation of new Reward-related capabilities.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement and proactively identify opportunities to simplify processes and improve customer experience.

 

Stakeholder Management

  • Build strong relationships with HR, Reward, Payroll, Finance, Digital teams, and external vendors.
  • Translate data into meaningful business insights and recommendations for stakeholders.
  • Provide support on emerging priorities and ad hoc initiatives aligned to HR Operations strategic objectives.
  • Act as workstream lead or key contributor on projects and initiatives as assigned.

About You

 

Required Experience

  • Experience working with HR systems such as SAP, SuccessFactors, ServiceNow, or similar platforms.
  • Demonstrated experience in data analysis, data quality management, reporting, modelling, or analytics.
  • Experience working across HR, Payroll, Finance, and other cross-functional stakeholder groups.

 

Technical Capabilities

  • Advanced Excel capability with experience in large-volume data analysis, pivot tables, lookups, formulas, and reporting.
  • Knowledge of Power Query, Power BI and other data visualisation transformation and tools is highly preferred
  • Experience of process automation tools such as Power Automate or Power Apps is preferred.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capability with the ability to identify root causes and recommend solutions.
  • Knowledge of data governance, privacy, compliance, and data quality principles.

Qualifications

  • Degree or equivalent education and/or relevant experience preferred.
  • Fluent English (written and spoken).
