About the Role
This role is integral to the delivery of timely and accurate monthly and annual tax accounting and reporting activities, ensuring compliance with Group Policies and International Accounting Standards. It offers a unique opportunity to deepen your understanding of Australian tax regulations and collaborate with a wide range of internal and external teams and stakeholders. Key Accountabilities:
- Contribute to all income tax related month lend ledger close process including preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual tax accounting calculations and associated reconciliations.
- Draft Australian corporate tax returns and other tax calculations such as withholding tax, royalties and income tax instalments including preparation of all associated workpapers.
- Contribute to all income tax related reporting activities relevant to the region.
- Actively stay abreast of changes in Australian tax legislations with the support from Reginal Group Tax team and assist in communicating relevant tax updates to impacted stakeholders.
- Support Tax leadership by performing some initial reviews of tax calculations and actively contributing to continuously improvement initiatives in line with BHP Operating System Practice.
- Participate in SOX compliance activities and support tax-related internal and external audit requests.
- Maintaining comprehensive knowledge on SAP and other tax computation software.
- Building and maintaining relationships with other departments and with the broader tax team, proactively engaging with tax technical matters, including provision of tax training, analysis, and technical guidance to relevant areas of the business and tax team.
About You
Qualifications:
- Degree in accounting with significant years of experience in accounting or a large corporate or professional environment.
- Professional qualification (CPA/ACCA/CIMA) either completion or currently pursuing is an added advantage.
Experience & Technical Competencies:
- Experience in S4HANA(SAP) finance modules and related systems.
- Strong knowledge of accounting processes.
- Sound knowledge of tax accounting for income taxes (IAS 12).
- Experience in both income and secondary taxes.
- Australian tax experience preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft excel (including macros).
- Proficiency in Power BI preferred.
- Exposure to compliance / governance activities, such as SOX.
