You will be based at our new ‘Jimblebar’ mine site on a fly-in fly-out 8:6 roster. Jimblebar is the first Greenfield mine in over 40 years to be both developed and operated by BHP Billiton Iron Ore and is located 40kms North East of Newman, Western Australia.  The outstanding facilities at the brand new FIFO village include; a fully equipped gym, swimming pool, golf driving nets, outdoor cinema, netted cricket pitch, tennis and basketball court; beach volleyball court, games room and TV lounge. All rooms at the village have access to 4G wireless internet and Skype, an ensuite bathroom, flat screen television, refrigerator and air-conditioning

About the Role


Reporting to the Supervisor Training, the Specialist Trainer / Assessor – Field Builder will be responsible for executing the delivery of training plans and training and coaching operators in our Autonomous Systems. In this capacity, you will be actively involved in ensuring the relevance, quality and improvement of all resource material in addition to monitoring and increasing the competency of all personnel. This is an 8 on 6 off roster Friday to Friday. Dayshift only.



Key responsibilities within this role will include:


  • Demonstrate commitment and conformance to the BHP Charter, the BHP Group Level Documents, Code of Conduct and relevant statutory obligations.
  • Liaise with Mining Supervisors and the Training Supervisor on operator training required.
  • Ensure technical training is implemented as planned.
  • Ensuring the Field Builders create and maintain a virtual mine model that aligns to the physical layout of the mine.
  • Training operators to safely recover AHT’s.
  • Train and Coach operators on troubleshooting methodologies and practices.
  • Ensure adequately skilled operators are available across all shifts.
  • Ensure training activities comply with the relevant Safe Work Procedures and statutory requirements.
  • Assist in identifying and implementing initiatives that contribute value to the business.

About You


To be successful in this position, you will be a collaborative, performance focused and output driven individual with the following skills and qualifications:


  • Training and Assessing Certificate IV TAE40116 preferred, TAE40110 is a minimum to be considered for this role or be willing to work towards progressing this qualification.
  • Valid Australian C class driver’s licence.
  • It is not essential that you are already a Trainer/Assessor, we will develop the right individual into this discipline.


In addition, you will possess highly developed written and verbal communication skills complimented with the following demonstrated experience:


  • Experience in Autonomous Haulage Systems.
  • Experience with using Minestar Command or similar.
  • Experience in a large scale open pit mining operation preferred.
  • A proven track record of safety management.
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Experienced operator of Surface Mobile Equipment an advantage.
  • Strong communication and relationship management of teams.
