About the Role

 

We are seeking a Specialist Trainer to join the Mining Production Training team at Jimblebar Operations. This is an excellent opportunity for a safety-conscious individual with strong leadership and influencing skills, who demonstrates a proactive approach to mentoring and developing employees. Reporting directly to the Supervisor Training, the Specialist Trainer / Assessor – Production will be responsible for the effective delivery of training plans, ensuring all training materials remain relevant, high quality, and continuously improved. You will also monitor and enhance competency levels across all personnel within the production team.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Collaborate with Mining Supervisors and the Training Supervisor to identify and coordinate operator training requirements.
  • Implement technical training programs in alignment with approved plans.
  • Develop and update training materials to comply with WAIO standards.
  • Ensure appropriately skilled operators are available for all shifts.
  • Conduct training activities in accordance with Safe Work Procedures and relevant statutory requirements.
  • Support the identification and implementation of initiatives that add value to business operations.

About You

Essential Attributes

 

  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, or willingness to obtain this qualification (we will support the right candidate through this process).

 

  • Previous experience in large-scale autonomous open pit mining operations is preferred.

  • Demonstrated commitment to safety management with a proven track record.

  • A desire to train personnel to be safe and effective to help them succeed in their role.

  • Proven experience operating as a Field Builder and/or System Builder within an autonomous production environment is essential.

  • Operating various Surface Mobile Equipment within an autonomous production environment is preferred.

 

Location

 

This position is based at our new Jimblebar mine site, operating on a fly-in fly-out (FIFO) 8:6 roster. Jimblebar is BHP Billiton Iron Ore’s first Greenfield mine developed and operated in over 40 years, situated approximately 40 km northeast of Newman, Western Australia.

 

The onsite FIFO village offers exceptional facilities including a fully equipped gym, swimming pool, golf driving nets, outdoor cinema, netted cricket pitch, tennis and basketball courts, beach volleyball court, games room, and a TV lounge. Accommodation features ensuite bathrooms, flat-screen televisions, refrigerators, air-conditioning, and access to 4G wireless internet and Skype.
