About the Role

 

Join our BHP Olympic Dam team where you will be instrumental in the oversight, development, coordination and delivery of training within our Mine Mobile Equipment Maintenance Department.

 

This role will have a fundamental focus on risk management and safety and will continue to develop the competency and capability of our team to deliver sustainable improvements in Mobile Equipment performance, productivity, safety, reliability and cost.

 

This position is based at Olympic Dam on a 8/6 roster, offered as FIFO from Adelaide, DIDO or residential in Roxby Downs.

 

 

In this role you will:

 

  • Ensure an overriding commitment to safety, including active involvement in Field Leadership
  • Develop, maintain, review and improve Mobile Maintenance Department training content and competency assessments
  • Spend time in Field in our Underground Mining operations, including with our operational equipment and customers, maintenance teams and in workshop facilities
  • Coordinate the holistic training program for the Department (internal and external training)
  • Support the selection, development and appointment of ‘on crew trainers’ (Trainer Assessors) across the Department
  • Deliver quality programs to intended audiences, achieving program objectives and ensuring learning transfer occurs for each participant
  • Monitor and report on training compliance and support Leadership to target areas of focus and opportunity
  • Monitor the quality of training across the Department ensuring objectives are met, business needs and opportunities are prioritised and customer feedback is captured and understood with a continuous improvement focus
  • Develop, maintain, review and improve role specific training requirements across the department and develop strategic, long term role specific training pathways
  • Coordinate and facilitate routines and forums for existing department ‘on crew trainers’
  • Create, review and update business documentation including standards, procedures and work instructions
  • Assist in training budget development
  • Work collaboratively across a wide range of internal and external stakeholders at all levels
  • Lead and support improvement projects

 

 

About You

 

  • You hold a Certificate IV in Workplace Training & Assessment, with a technical trade or qualification desirable.
  • Diploma of Vocational Education and Training or willingness to prioritise completion required
  • You are motivated to do what’s right, seek better ways and make a difference
  • Experience within mining, processing or heavy industry or similar technical environments
  • Experience with Mobile equipment desirable
  • Professional training, facilitation and presentation skills
  • Demonstrated experience in continuously improving training content development and delivery
  • A strong understanding of adult learning principles and the ability to apply a mix of methods to ensure learning transfer, practicality, effectiveness and sustainability
  • An understanding of the instructional design process and validation techniques
  • A willingness to lead and implement change, as well as influence, coach and mentor others in training and safety principles and behaviours
  • Proven ability to build highly effective working relationships across a range of stakeholders and working groups, with a strong focus on supporting frontline teams
