About Potash
The Jansen project in Saskatchewan, Canada is set to become one of the largest potash mines in the world and is located approximately 140 kilometres east of Saskatoon. BHP’s CAD$14 billion (US$10.5 billion) investment in the Jansen project will deliver a potash mine in Saskatchewan designed to maximize sustainability. As the largest investment in Saskatchewan’s history, Jansen is expected to generate approximately 5,500 workforce opportunities during construction and 900 long-term roles.
Jansen's construction will take place over several years with first production planned for late 2026. Once fully ramped up, Jansen is expected to have an initial production capacity of approximately 8.5 million tonnes per annum (Mtpa), with the potential to produce 16 to 17 Mtpa in future stages. Purpose
Reporting to Superintendent Technical Training, the Specialist Training IOC Control Room will be the key contributor to the training development, delivery and future assessments of the Integrated Operations Centre (IOC) roles that will serve as remote operators for activities at the Jansen Mine, particularly in respect to surface production. This role will be responsible for training in the IOC in Saskatoon, SK however will be required to travel to the Jansen Mine Site on a regular cadence.
Work Location
This role will be based in Downtown Saskatoon at BHP’s Corporate Office in the Integrated Control Centre. 40 hours per week. Hybrid working (flexible, shared workstations and a combination of office and work from home) is standard for BHP. This role will require regular travel to the Jansen Mine Site located in Leroy, SK.

About the Role
In this role, you will:

Deliver training in BHP’s state of the art Integrated Operations Center (IOC)

Design and deliver training plans, train and assess operators, and improve training programs to maintain safety, compliance and performance during mine operations

Deliver training in both traditional methods and using state of the art tools and functions such as training simulators, Virtual reality (VR) and other systems. These methods will be used to upskill a diverse new to industry workforce, as well as experienced mine employees.

Conduct routine operational and safety activities to effectively prepare for and manage operational workload.

Understanding on how to operate electronic or computerized control panel

Background in production mine/mill operations

Identify and assess risks, make risk informed decisions by using BHP’s risk management framework and build a risk aware culture to support safe and productive performance outcomes

Identify, engage and manage a range of diverse internal and external stakeholders
About You
Required
-
Experience or familiarity with Control Room Operations, ideally in an IOC setting, encompassing Process Plant/Mil Operations
-
Experience in the mine industry is preferred, with potash experience highly regarded
-
Passionate about training and development, taking pride in successfully communicating key messages to all levels of the audience

Ability to train in both Saskatoon and at Jansen Mine Site (as required)

Strong interpersonal skills, capable of inspiring others, with an aptitude for creating strong relationships across the organisation
Recommended

Knowledge and experience with Delta V, SCADA, Training Simulators and real-time data platforms (i.e., Historians PI)

Adult Education Certificate or equivalent experience

Education in one of the following areas: Controls System Technician, Power Engineering Certification, Process Engineer or Process Controls Engineer

Demonstrated experience with the development and administration of training and competency programs

Attitude for delivering instructional experience both online and through instructor-lead

Familiarity with SK Mine Regulations
