Please note this position is based at Olympic Dam, operating on a 7/7 (day shift only) roster pattern, with residential, FIFO (from Adelaide) or DIDO options available. 


The Transport Specialist – Bus Services is responsible for providing safe, reliable and inclusive bus transport services to support our workforce and community at Olympic Dam, as well as supporting busing services throughout the wider Copper SA business.  

 


In this role you will: 

 

  • Provide safety leadership of bus operations at Olympic Dam to ensure compliance with ¬¬BHP and bus service providers safety management systems 
  • Provide support to Aviation and Facilities Management Supervisors located at Prominent Hill and Carrapateena for busing operations 
  • On call availability for significant event support 
  • Plan shutdown bus services to deliver key stakeholder requirements within budget  
  • Monitor the performance of bus business partners to ensure compliance with contract requirements  
  • Support safe aviation operations by completing Airport Reporting Officer duties on rostered schedule, including working late shifts where required
  • Complete and coach field leadership activities, hazard reporting and participate in event investigations
  • Manage and monitor cost, including reporting on actual versus forecast spend and raising purchase orders 
  • Drive continuous improvement focuses to increase customer experience
  • Lead and contribute to BOS (BHP Operating System) routines
  • Establish productive working relationships with contracting partners, customers and the broader Integrated Services teams
  • Conduct regular review of Business As Usual (BAU) Schedule and Utilisation reports to identify improvement opportunities

 

 

About You

 

  • Able to work both in dynamic team environments and autonomously 
  • Previous experience in managing contractor execution teams 
  • Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills, including the ability to analyse data and provide recommendations to improve services
  • Proven ability to influence and mentor others in HSEC principles and behaviours including the ability to manage material risks and critical control execution 
  • Proven ability to operate at multiple levels and across disciplines and geographic locations 
  • Competent in MS office systems 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Possess a valid manual driver’s licence
  • Willingness to develop knowledge of Airport Reporting Officer (ARO) training and obtain Airport Security Identification Card (ASIC)
  • Possess a continuous improvement mindset by constantly looking for opportunities to improve work practices and procedures
  • The ability to remain calm under pressure and execute Business Continuity Plans
  • Experience with 1SAP, BHP Operating System (BOS) and BHPs Field Leadership is beneficial 
  • Please note that as this role also supports Prominent Hill bus services
