About the Role
The Water Planning team is currently seeking two Water Planning Specialists to join the team. There is a permanent role and a 14-month fixed term contract opportunity available. The roles are based in Brisbane, with once a month (approx.) travel to site within the Bowen Basin region. You will have access to technology that will enable you to work flexibly.
Responsibilities of the roles include (but are not limited to):
- Lead planning for water management activities and projects across tactical and strategic planning horizons
- Influence and lead change in water management across our sites and the broader coal business including leading site water working groups
- Support governance and update of key operational water models, these include; Water Balance (GoldSIM), Flooding (TUFLOW) and Water Reticulation (WaterGEMs)
- Leverage operational water models to assess future scenarios to ensure water related risks are managed appropriately
- Provide technical support to projects as a Water Management subject matter expert
- Manage external consultants to conduct technical studies
- Maintain a thorough water management system knowledge base of your respective sites
- Drive continuous improvement of internal processes and ways of working
- Support tracking of water performance metrics and delivery of key water reporting
About You
You will ideally possess the following skills and experience:
- A tertiary qualification in Engineering or Science (preferred disciplines Civil, Mining, Water Resources or Environmental)
- Demonstrated commitment to safety
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to communicate technical concepts clearly and concisely to non-technical and leadership audiences
- Ability to think strategically and quickly grasp technical problems and business requirements
- Ability to prioritise effectively based on risk and value
- Ability to apply knowledge of water management in an open cut mining context
- Capability in tools such as GIS, TUFLOW, GoldSIM or WaterGEMs is highly regarded
- Demonstrated capabilities in effectively engaging with various levels & across operations and functions to influence change
