Current Opportunities:
BHP WA Iron Ore Directional Studies invites expressions of interest from Senior Project Engineers/ Engineering Managers, and Study Managers keen to support large, complex early-stage studies. These roles report to the Manager Studies.
The Directional Studies team plays a pivotal role in shaping BHP’s major capital projects. Through Opportunity Assessments and Identification Phase Studies, the team provides the strategic foundation for investment decisions. These studies are critical to stabilising the project environment, aligning stakeholders, and ensuring that risks and value drivers are clearly understood prior to transitioning a preferred investment alternative to the Projects function.
- The Engineering role (12 Month Contract) within Directional Studies serves as the primary technical interface with engineering service providers. Responsibilities include facilitating the development and review of technical deliverables, contributing to project cost estimates and schedules, and coordinating input from subject matter experts across disciplines.
- Study Leaders are accountable for synthesising business strategic drivers and priorities to define a preferred investment alternative. This alternative will then be progressed by the Projects team for further development and execution.
Required Experience and Background:
To be successful in either role:
- You will thrive in dynamic and evolving study environments and bring proven experience in shaping and delivering studies or managing engineering within early-stage project phases.
- You will demonstrate strong problem-solving capabilities and the ability to influence outcomes across a broad stakeholder landscape.
- Exceptional communication skills are essential, enabling effective engagement at all levels of the organisation.
- Your capacity to navigate complexity and ambiguity with confidence and clarity will be a key asset in contributing to the success of the Directional Studies team.
