About the Role

Reporting to the Manager Mine Planning, the role of Superintendent Control Operations will be based at Olympic Dam and offered on an 8/6 Wednesday to Wednesday FIFO roster (ex-Adelaide) or residential at Roxby Downs. We are open to discussing flexible working opportunities.  

 

Ongoing accountabilities for this role include: 

  • Ensuring an overriding commitment to health, safety, environment responsibility and sustainable development.
  • Lead and coach field leadership activities, participate in safety meetings, investigate and manage key safety investigations relevant to the team 
  • Positively shape culture in alignment with the BHP Charter Values
  • Lead process improvement initiatives to support customer group by leveraging BOS practices
  • Taking responsibility for identifying and resolving systemic issues, and for assessing the potential impact on production, plant and equipment
  • Overseeing the day-to-day running of the Control Operations Mine team.
  • Providing leadership to Control Operations Mine team and empowering them to support performance of the mine
  • Interfacing regularly with Mining Operations and Scheduling to maximise ore to surface and production efficiencies
  • Monitoring operating costs ensuring that spend is controlled to the allocated budget
  • Reporting and investigating any significant deviation from the operational plans

About You 

  • An understanding and practice continuous improvement lean principles
  • Demonstrated change leadership experience
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills
  • Problem solving skills
  • Navigating ambiguity
  • Previous mining operations experience preferred
  • Experience or familiarity with control rooms or control centres would be beneficial
