About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Superintendent Drill & Blast to provide strong, values led leadership across drill and blast operations at Mt Arthur Coal.
Reporting to the Manager Production, you will be accountable for embedding BHP’s safety and operational standards into daily execution, delivering predictable outcomes, managing cost and performance, and developing high performing teams.
This is a residential, Monday–Friday role, suited to a senior operational leader who values visibility in the operation, strong collaboration, and the opportunity to influence both current performance and long term outcomes. This role plays a key part in delivering strong operational outcomes while contributing to responsible mine closure and transition planning toward 2030. Key accountabilities
• Lead a strong safety culture through visible leadership and disciplined risk management
• Ensure compliance with statutory requirements and BHP health, safety and operational standards
• Lead, coach and develop frontline leaders and operational teams, building capability and succession
• Deliver drill and blast plans safely, efficiently and in line with production requirements
• Monitor, analyse and report on drill and blast performance to reduce variability and drive improvement
• Manage budgets, cost control and contractor performance within area of responsibility
• Collaborate closely with production, planning, maintenance and technical teams
• Build trusted relationships across employees, contractors and key stakeholders

About You
You are a people focused, outcomes driven leader who role models BHP’s values and leads with care.
You will bring:
• Strong technical experience in Drill & Blast operations within mining
• Demonstrated leadership experience at Superintendent or equivalent level
• Proven ability to lead, engage and develop teams
• Strong safety leadership and risk awareness
• Sound commercial acumen, including cost control and budgeting
• Ability to manage competing priorities in a dynamic operational environment
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
Desirable:
• Relevant statutory qualifications
• Certificate IV or higher in Frontline Management (or equivalent)
