About the Role
We are enthusiastically seeking the talents of a skilled and highly motivated Drill & Blast Superintendent join the Area C leadership Team. Reporting to the Area C Mining Production Manager, you will manage a large team responsible for safely delivering all Drill & Blast activities across the Mining Are C Operation.
Your ability to mentor and coach your team, to drive improvement initiatives and to work collaboratively with a variety of key stakeholders across the BHP business will be Integral to your success.
Key Responsibilities will include:
- Champion safety and risk management culture through quality Field Leadership routines
- Build team capability through coaching and continuous feedback building trust and increase performance
- Partner with Functional and Operational teams to develop Mine plans. Manage the disciplined execution of plans with the ability to adapt priorities in response to customer needs and evolving risks and opportunities
- Manage the site explosive forecast and usage in line with the mine plan, budget and legislative requirements
- Understand the economic drivers that underpin both cost & revenue within the operation to ensuring strong long-term performance for the Mining department
- Embedding the BHP operating system and continuous Improvement principles across the team
- Set direction for the team that reflects customer needs. Communicates and role models the importance of having a customer focus to help others take greater accountability for meeting customer needs
About You
Your demonstrated experience in guiding and mentoring large, multidisciplinary teams in a complex operational environment will contribute to your success in this role.
Your demonstrated Operational Leadership ideally with experience in a similar capacity. You are extremely delivery focused with a demonstrated track record in mentoring and coaching others to achieve outstanding results. You possess excellent problem solving and stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to build effective customer relationships.
In addition, we are ideally looking for the following skills and experience:
- Demonstrated experienced and/or qualifications within the Production Drill & Blast discipline
- A genuine desire to nurture positive relationships by seeking and receiving feedback with courage and humility
- Highly organised, process driven with the ability to effectively manage multiple deliverables on time and under pressure
- Results focused with the ability to solve both adaptive and technical problems with speed and accuracy
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Location
You will be based at our ‘Area C’ mine site on a fly-in fly-out 5/2/4/3/9/5 roster. Our Area C mine is located approximately 100kms North West of Newman, West Australia. The outstanding facilities at the FIFO village include; a fully equipped gym, swimming pool, netted cricket pitch, tennis and basketball court, beach volleyball court and recreation room including a pool table, darts, table tennis, TV and DVD player. All rooms at the village have their own ensuite bathroom, television, refrigerator and air-conditioning.
