About the Role

Based in our Brisbane office, this Superintendent DRS and DC Facilities role offers a diverse range of opportunities and experiences in managing BHP’s critical two communication via Digital Radio Systems (DRS) as well as infrastructure in Data centers and associated Disaster Recovery Services and Data Center (DC) Facilities across our mine sites and Integrated Operations Center.  

 

Reporting to the Manager Connectivity and Infrastructure, this role provides specialist management capabilities to ensure robust operations, high availability, reliability, and continuous improvement of DRS and DC platforms with a product ownership mindset.

 

In this role you will:

 

 

  • Lead and manage DRS and DC Facilities engineers, overseeing work execution, personal development, and annual performance plans.
  • Champion field leadership and safety/risk management activities within DRS and DC environments.
  • Develop roadmaps and manage budgets related to DRS and DC Facilities.
  • Oversee the design, implementation, and commissioning of DRS and DC infrastructure for modifications and new installations.
  • Manage support and technical assistance personnel for addressing critical incidents and ensuring rapid recovery.
  • Investigate and identify root causes of downtime, implementing solutions to prevent recurrence, maximize uptime, and minimize recovery time.
  • Deliver initiatives focused on increasing safety, reliability, and efficiency, while reducing risks associated with DRS and DC operations.
  • Govern and maintain standards, specifications, drawings, processes, and procedures for DRS and DC Facilities, including Disaster Recovery & Service Continuity Plans.
  • Lead vendor management, service contracts, and lifecycle upgrades for DRS and DC platforms.
  • Establish and maintain close working relationships with Technology, Site/Asset stakeholders, and external vendors.
  • Provide technical expertise to assist with projects associated with DRS and DC Facilities.

 

 

About You

You will have:

 

 

  • Relevant industry experience with a practical, hands-on approach in managing Industrial Digital Radio Systems, Tier-I Data Center and Disaster Recovery environments, preferably within mining or similar industries.
  • Strong leadership, and problem-solving skills with experience demonstrating managing budgets and project portfolio.
  • A demonstrated commitment to health, safety, environmental responsibility, and technical regulatory compliance.
  • The ability to manage multiple priorities and effectively address high-value, high-risk issues.
  • Strong relationship-building skills across all levels of the business.

 

Technical Experience/Proficiencies:

 

 

  • Understanding of DRS systems, RF planning, Commissioning or upkeep of tier-I Data Center.
  • Experience with Disaster Recovery planning, testing, and execution and IT/OT Service Management
  • Strong vendor and contract management experience.
  • Experience managing large, geographically distributed technology infrastructure environments, including Master Data Management & Reporting.
  • Tertiary qualifications in STEM, is preferred.
