Location
Western Australia Iron Ore (WAIO) is an integrated system of four processing hubs and five mines connected by more than 1,000 kilometres of rail infrastructure and port facilities in the Pilbara region of northern Western Australia. This role is based at Yandi working FIFO (5/2/4/3 roster).

About the Role
You will form part of a progressive and supportive leadership team and will have the chance to further develop a broad range of skills in the areas of problem solving, leading through change, and, visualising and managing performance. The Superintendent Mine Geology role is responsible for supporting safe production (volume, quality and materials handling), partnering with peers from across Geoscience to deliver our priority projects, and, for building an inclusive and diverse high performing team.
Reporting to the Manager of Mine Geology, this position will work with multidisciplinary teams to explore new ways of working that can unlock resource value and deliver deposit knowledge.
In this role you will:
- Lead with impact and energy. You will shape the direction of the Mine Geology and Geoscience teams, understand the voice of our customer, and, simplify and standardise our work.
- Enjoy the opportunity to build a range of relationships across the business with Planning, Technical and Environment, Integrated Operations (IOPS), Resource Engineering, Marketing, Technology and a variety of execution teams including Mining and Processing.
- Maintain robust predictive systems and processes to monitor and improve geological and geometallurgical characterisation during ore control routines and execution of the mine plan.
- Participate in compliance to plan (C2P) routines at the mine site by providing input and taking actions for investigation into deviation between plan vs actual performance.
- Benchmark Mining Geology core routines and collaborate with subject matter experts across the Geoscience function, and our Centres of Excellence, to enable best practice Mine Geology, and
- Partner with your peer group across the Geoscience function to deliver the annual business plan.
About You
As the successful candidate ideally you will:
- Be degree qualified in either geoscience, engineering or mining-related technical discipline
- Have demonstrated technical and / or mine planning experience in similar roles or step-up opportunities
- Be someone who believes they can make a difference. You will also provide guidance to others on how they can apply lessons learned from past failures and successes, and
- Work a FIFO roster with flexibility to spend time, as required, working with partners and peer groups in our Perth Head Office.
