About the Role

 

Reporting to the Manager HSSEM Carrapateena and Oak Dam, this role is responsible for a wide scope including Health, Safety, Security and Emergency Services for the Oak Dam Exploration. The role provides guidance to the Planning, Technical and Environment Leadership teams currently operating at the site and is a core interface with Copper South Australia Major Projects team throughout future development opportunities and project tollgates.

 

Your extensive industry and leadership experience enable you to develop and maintain effective working relationships with a wide stakeholder group, in particular Copper SA Functional support teams, with the ability to communicate at all levels of the organisation.

 

 

This role is based at Oak Dam on a 5/2 4/3 flexible FIFO arrangement from Adelaide, or DIDO from Roxby Downs. Flexible work arrangements are available.

  

In this role you will:

 

  • Provide leadership to a team focussed on the strategic management of health, safety, security and emergency response related issues, provisions and initiatives across the organisation
  • Coach and develop team to deliver high performance and maintain an engaging, diverse and inclusive culture
  • Manage, improve and provide expertise on health and safety risk management practices to improve organisational safety outcomes and performance
  • Provide leadership focussed on the strategic management of security related issues, provisions and initiatives across the organisation
  • Respond to and improve the effectiveness of emergency response services to uplift organisational capability in managing emergencies/incidents
  • Build capability within operational leaders to foster a culture of safety curiosity, with a bias toward upholding of standards and encouragement of continuous improvement
  • Utilise the BHP Operating System (BOS) to drive a customer-centric approach to safety engagement within the team, placing high value on time in field and responding quickly to customer needs
  • Make evidence based and strategic decisions in alignment with longer term business objectives
  • Identify, engage and manage a range of diverse internal and external stakeholders
  • Identify and assess risks, make risk informed decisions, use BHP's risk management framework and build a risk aware culture to support safe and productive performance outcomes
  • Collaborate with peers within Copper SA to design and deliver the Copper SA Asset-wide safety improvement plan, and support the development and execution of Operation and Department safety improvement plans
  • Support and champion the execution of safe work at Oak Dam in line with the Copper South Australia Integrated Management System

About You

 

  • Experience in Health and Safety related leadership roles
  • Qualifications in Health and or Safety related disciplines
  • Experience in heavy industry, construction and mining settings with experience in the creation and growth of engaging, supportive & inspiring team culture
  • Demonstrated Contractor Safety experience
  • Excellent stakeholder communication skills
  • Forward thinking and an energetic and proactive work style
  • Experience in the development and delivery of strategic and tactical plans, and management of complex and competing priorities
  • An advanced understanding of HSE Management systems and relevant South Australian legislation
  • CuSA experience will be advantageous
  • Demonstrated ability to solve complex problems with minimal direction
  • Strong ability to develop own work plan and adapt to change
