About the Role
Your role as the Longwall Maintenance Superintendent will be to provide leadership and technical support to the Longwall Maintenance team prioritising safety, reliability and equipment performance. This role will use improvement principles to drive safety performance, maintenance efficiency and effectiveness supporting Longwall Operations.
This position is based at BMA Broadmeadow Underground mine, reporting to the Manager Maintenance and is offered as a Mid-Week 5/2 Roster.
Key accountabilities include:
- Demonstrate alignment to BHP Charter Values and Our Code of Business Conduct
- Demonstrate safety leadership by completing Field Leadership interactions to continuously improve safety performance
- Build business partnerships and maintain strong working relationships with key stakeholders across the business
- Ensure maintenance activities are planned and executed safety to the highest quality
- Provide leadership to direct reports including Mechanical, Electrical and Automation Coordinators as well as Maintenance Supervisors and well as Longwall Trades reporting through Supervisors and Coordinators.
- Accountable for the budget for the Longwall Maintenance team, including budget development and reforecasting.
- Utilise BHPs Operating System to champion continuous improvement projects with the team.
- Promote Maintenance effectiveness for preventative and corrective maintenance works.
- Utilise the team to manage the asset lifecyle of equipment from purchase to decommission.
- Support the development of operating standards, procedures and work instructions.
- Provide coaching to the maintenance team.
- Work closely with other functions within the organisation including Maintenance and Engineering Centre of Excellence (MECoE), supply and production departments
About You
The successful candidate will demonstrate the following:
- Diploma, degree or trade qualified in Mechanical or Electrical discipline
- Strong proven work experience in a similar role
- Ability to influence, engage, & communicate with stakeholders effectively across all levels of the business, from frontline employees to senior management
- Strong problem-solving skills with a collaborative approach to finding practical solutions utilising continuous improvement processes
- High-level of experience with all Microsoft Office Applications and 1SAP
- Ability to apply management of change and risk principles
- Willingness and ability to learn and adapt to change
- Experience in a leadership role within Maintenance or Engineering in the mining industry will be highly advantageous
