About the Role

 

Prominent Hill produces one of the highest grades of copper concentrate in the world.  Located 650 kilometres north-west of Adelaide, South Australia, Prominent Hill is part of our Minerals Australia operation. It's made up of underground and surface operations, and is located on the traditional lands of the Antakirinja Matu-Yankunytjatjara people. Reporting to the Manager – Engineering & Maintenance, you will join our dynamic and results-driven team as we continue to focus on safety, project delivery, performance and business improvement.
You’ll be a valued and trusted leader for the maintenance team and drive initiatives that enable operational excellence.

 

Please note this position is based at Prominent Hill on a FIFO from Adelaide basis, operating on a 5/2 – 4/3 roster pattern roster arrangement. 

 

In this role you will:

 

  • Lead the Major Maintenance, Asset Integrity, and Plant Improvement project pipeline for the Maintenance Department
  • Manage the delivery team and subcontractors to deliver the infrastructure projects from front end design, through detailed design, procurement, construction, hand over and close-out
  • Assist with preparation of site construction budgets and reports, ultimately responsible for the financial and technical success of projects
  • Monitor construction progress for adherence to programme and quality assurance
  • Compile and control of project documents including maintenance of a control register, ensuring prompt issue of documentation to the respective parties
  • Develop and lead Asset Integrity Inspection activities, and execute ongoing integrity remediation pipeline
  • Develop collaborative and consultative working relationships with key stakeholders across the business to identify issues and opportunities to improve efficiency and simplify the way we do business
  • Liaise with Mining, Processing, Engineering and Commercial teams for planning and execution purposes
  • Meet and maintain site requirements for Contractor Management activities
  • Coordinate project execution activities with other functions, Maintenance and Production Sub-functions to effectively manage these activities
  • Supervise project delivery teams onsite and ensure standards of work are maintained at the highest level, re-work is minimised, and good housekeeping standards are kept
  • Attend risk assessments, safety incident investigations and audits to ensure compliance to safety and engineering standards 

About You

 

  • Be a safety leader and advocate - implement and verify safe systems of work related to project planning, delivery, construction and handover (eg critical risk verifications, safe work methods statements, risk assessments and audits)
  • Demonstrate experience and understanding of leading project delivery lifecycle and effective construction management (safety, technical, cost/commercial)
  • Provide technical and operational expertise in heavy industry context – high risk and complex project environments
  • Possess project, time management and prioritisation skills, with high attention to detail, excellent problem solving and communication skills
  • Well-developed, proactive stakeholder collaboration and contractor management
  • Demonstrate capability to lead and mentor team members for safe and effective outcomes applying BHP systems of work
