About the Role
We are seeking the talents of a dedicated and collaborative operational professional to join the team at Newman Operations in the capacity of Superintendent Mine Services Processing.
Reporting to the Manager Mining Production you will be responsible for providing guidance to a team focused on delivering a high level of performance, enabling the safe delivery of iron ore to the WAIO supply chain. Your ability to work constructively and effectively with a variety of key stakeholders across the BHP business will be integral to your success.
Key Responsibilities in this role will include:
- Supervise operational activities to enable the delivery of continuous safe operations
- Conduct routine operational and safety activities to effectively prepare for and manage operational workload
- Use and interpret data from operational digital interfaces/systems/technologies to make decisions and overcome challenges in an increasingly digital work environment
- Respond to emergencies, communicate effectively, identify/manage hazards and comply with work procedures/regulatory requirements to guarantee safety and safeguard production targets in the open-cut mining operations environment
- Identify and assess risk, make risk informed decisions, using BHP's risk management framework and build a risk aware culture to support safe and productive performance outcomes
- Prioritise work effort and resources accordingly
- Engage the capabilities of the entire organisation

About You
To be successful in this role you will be an experienced leader ideally with a background in mining or mining technical roles. You possess excellent stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to build effective business partnerships.
As the successful candidate, you will possess the following:
- Strong leadership skills in a similar role with demonstrated experience in the ability to manage supervisors, employees, community connections and achieve regulatory expectations
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field, or equivalent experience in site / operational background or operations management is highly advantageous
- Solution focused and innovative with the ability to work well under pressure
- The ability to work effectively with others and provide constructive feedback where appropriate
About Newman Operations
Spanning two sites just out of the township of Newman, we pride ourselves on over 50 years of history holding claim to the worlds largest open cut iron ore mine at Newman West and a fully autonomous site at Newman East, employing over 1500 people. With this role you have the choice of either being residentially based in Newman or fly-in fly-out from Perth to Newman on a 9/5 roster. As a gateway to the Karijini national park, you will be in close proximity to spectacular gorges, water courses and stunningly unique landscapes. If you would prefer the residential option, you will also be provided with subsidised rental accommodation in addition to power and water subsidies.
