About the Role

As the Superintendent – Mining Engineering you will manage the mining improvement projects within the UG Mining and technical services space. You will also lead and mentor your team in the technical functions of scheduling, ventilation and survey. In this this role you will oversee a large team with varying technical and industry experience ensuring that personal development is balanced with meeting requirements of key deliverables of the team.

 

Location: Carrapateena, South Australia (60-minute flight from Adelaide / 30-minute flight from Port Augusta)

Roster:  4 /3, 4/3, 8/6

In this role you will:

  • Provide leadership for the short-term scheduling, ventilation and survey teams with the following key deliverables; Short-term mine schedules (13-week and weekly) aligned with the budget and quarterly plans, Schedule compliance to plan tracking and improvements, Mine surveying, Mine ventilation plans, Mine ventilation monitoring and improvement projects to drive positive safety, production, and cost outcomes
  • Lead and mentoring teams in the technical functions of scheduling, ventilation and survey. This is inclusive of leading a team of 20+ with varying technical and industry experience ensuring that personal development is balanced with meeting requirements of key deliverables of the team.
  • Organising training opportunities for team to enable development and continuous improvement on team performance.
  • Ensuring that short term mining plans and technical services are provided to a high standard with a strong safety focus.
  • Leading mining improvement projects in UG Mining and technical services space.
  • Maintain QAQC on the mine planning, ventilation and survey standards and processes.
  • Be a critical control owner for specified risks and review and validate effectiveness for controls put in place.
  • Responsibility of updating and distributing management plans, guidelines and procedures within scheduling, ventilation and survey technical functions.
  • Cost management for the Mining Engineering team including team budget creation and management. Applying financial skill set to mine schedules to create mining budgets.
  • Co-ordinate and execute risk assessments, managements of change and plan variation justifications when required.
  • Management and distribution of key management plans, guidelines and procedures for the scheduling, ventilation & survey.

About You

  • Highly proven experience in Mining Engineering roles in hard rock underground mines. 
  • Demonstrated experience and understanding of: short-term mine scheduling, mine design, and mine ventilation.
  • Demonstrated experience and understanding of relevant Australian legislation and mining regulations including occupational health and safety.
  • Prior experience in leading technical teams and meeting required key deliverable timelines.
  • Financial management skills including budget creation, budget management and cost / value calculations.
  • Proven ability to translate strategic direction into practical plans, budgets and metrics that align and stretch the team to achieve high performance. Adapts plans and team priorities in response to shifting customer needs, seeking input from the team on new risks and opportunities.
  • Demonstrated experience in fostering strong safety culture based on open and transparent communication with all stakeholders.
  • Well-developed project, time management and prioritisation skills, with high attention to detail, excellent problem solving and communication skills.
  • Well-developed oral and written communication skills, including preparing reports, budgets, strategic plans and interacting with external regulatory bodies, and Senior Leaders.

  • Current National Police Check (NPC) (Or ability to obtain)
