About the role
The purpose of this role is to deliver commercial expertise across the projects portfolio that creates and protects value for projects.
• Ensure conformance with the BHP Charter, the BHP Group Level Documents, Code of Conduct and relevant statutory obligations.

• Provide leadership and direction functional expertise, mentoring, coaching and guidance to the Team whilst fostering a positive, respectful, diverse and inclusive Team culture.
• Manage multiple stakeholder relationships, and provide support and facilitate the interface with Procurement, PC&A, Legal, Planning & Technical, and other Functions.
• Provide Projects Commercial services to the projects portfolio.
• Dedication to continuous growth and improvement of the whole PC team, focused on execution of the Business Plan and Focus Areas each year.
• A core focus of this role will be driving world class contract management performance, in a portfolio structure context, through:
- Developing robust sourcing strategies utilizing historical and future project portfolio data to preserve and improve the projects portfolio;
- Understanding of Outsourced Investment delivery models (BOOT,BOOM, BOM, etc.), and Projects financing;
- Understanding of standard and non-standard contracts formation processes and administration lifecycle, and of the elements essential to each of both types of contracts.
- Leads and influences the selection and implementation of commercial models and pricing methods in consideration of the respective Outsourced Investment Projects and Projects Portfolio associated risks and opportunities;
- Managing Contractors (structured or not through consortiums) and contract performance monitoring and reporting (KPI reporting, spend analytics, contract variations etc);
- Understanding local market conditions (participant capacity and capability), ensuring that market engagement is planned and executed to meet Outsourced Investment Projects key value drivers, and Projects Portfolio contracts schedule, quality and cost objectives;
- Applying sound commercial judgement around application of contractual terms and conditions to ensure the Contractors performs their obligations under the Contract, and promote a strong relationship with our contractors;
- Taking responsibility for and providing leadership on claims prevention, assessment, negotiation and resolution by applying expert commercial and contractual knowledge and advice;
- Monitoring and controlling Project risks and assessing risk management outcomes.
About You
Professional Experience Requirements:
• 10-15 years experience in Capital Projects, preferably in Commercial areas.
• Leadership experience or mentoring through a principal role is beneficial but not essential.
• Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence Project Leaders.
• Strong desire to pursue and achieve excellence and consistent high performance.
• Outsource Contracts experience a benefit.
• English written and verbal skills.
• Some SAP & GCMS experience is desirable.
