About the Role

Based in Port Hedland, this role offers a diverse range of opportunities and experiences in Control Systems and associated Operational Technologies spanning Western Australia Iron Ore Port & Rail sites. Reporting to the Manager WAIO Control Systems, you will lead the Port & Rail Control Systems Operations team to deliver safety, availability, reliability, project uplift and production improvements.  This role offers a dynamic and exciting scope with a real opportunity to make a difference. You will be supported by a great team with strong technical capability in a collaborative working environment.


This position is a site-based role on a 5/2, 4/3 FIFO roster.

 

 

In this role, your key accountabilities will include: 

 

 

  • Lead the team to ensure safety, culture, volume and cost plans are achieved
  • Deliver initiatives to support continuous improvement focused on improving safety, increasing reliability, increasing throughput and reducing risks associated with Control Systems and associated platforms.
  • Manage the investigation and identification of the root causes of downtime associated with control systems and developing/implementing solutions to prevent repeat events from occurring, eliminating defects, maximising Mean Time Between Failures and minimizing Mean Time to Recovery.
  • Material risk critical control owner
  • Contract owner of relevant partner contracts
  • Service owner of Port and Rail Control systems – Including accountability for governance, service continuity management and to support cybersecurity initiatives within the scope. 

 

About You

  • Your demonstrated experience in leading and mentoring operational, engineering or technology teams in a complex operational environment will contribute to your success in this role.
  • Ability to implement change through influence and is agile in meeting customer’s needs
  • Identifies improvements and can work autonomously in setting others up for success
  • Collaborative and solution-focused with the ability to work well under pressure
  • Continuous improvement mindset
  • Strong understanding of engineering processes and operational context.
  • Configuration and programming of PLC Platforms, Fieldbus networks Variable Speed Drives, analogue and digital actuators and sensors.
  • Configuration and programming of SCADA applications/platforms.
  • Functional Safety Systems design and maintenance.
  • Vendor and contract management practices & processes.
