About the Role
Peak Downs is an open-pit coal mine that produces high-quality hard coking coal and is one of Australia's biggest coal mines by recoverable coal reserves. It's located 31 kilometres south east of Moranbah in Queensland's Bowen Basin on the traditional lands of the Barada Barna people.
Working an 8/6 day shift only roster and reporting to the Manager Production Load and Haul, this role will see you managing the BMA Prestrip fleets across all open pit areas of the mine, while overseeing productive material movement, material risk and the safety and culture of the teams.
Key responsibilities of this role include:
- Lead, coach and mentor employees to deliver on plan and build a high performing team
- Audit and enforce compliance with the site’s SHMS
- Facilitate the development, implementation and maintenance of common standards including improvements to processes and systems
- Working in a proactive business culture and with a supportive management structure, you'll have the chance to promote business excellence through your team and you'll make full use of your broad range of skills in the areas of continuous improvement, technical knowledge and communication
- Demonstrate and instil an overriding commitment to health, safety, environment responsibility and sustainable development
About You
- Relevant mining qualifications and statutory competencies S123, G2, or Open Cut Examiner
- Strong people leadership capability, including coaching, performance management and building diverse, inclusive teams
- Well‑developed stakeholder engagement and influencing skills across operational, technical and support functions
- Experience applying continuous improvement methodologies to drive sustainable operational outcomes
- Strong computer literacy and confidence using production, reporting and improvement systems
- Motivated to build a long‑term career with BHP, aligned to our values, focused on continuous improvement, and committed to developing people and performance
