About the Role
Reporting to the Manager Technical Services - Leinster, this an ideal opportunity for a Superintendent to lead and develop technical engineering disciplines within the team. The Leinster Underground Operation consists of a newly established block cave and sublevel cave in addition to future underground options. The role involves leading a team of engineers to establish and embed best practice methods for underground drill and blast.
As an inclusive and effective leader, you will be charged to develop and sustain the culture and capability of the team. You will lead the team to operate in a climate of continuous improvement, being accountable and ensuring that all work is aligned with business-critical success factors. Core to your role is ensuring that all your team members feel safe, valued and connected to our purpose.
As the Superintendent Production Engineering, you will:
- Ensure an engaged, inclusive and diverse culture, where everyone is motivated to work at their full potential
- Manage performance targets and plans to deliver on site production requirements
- Ensure disciplined application of the BHP Operating System, standards, processes and systems, including risk management.
- Build cross-functional relationships with the operational sub-functions to support the delivery of production.
- Play an active role in drill and blast contract management.
This role is fly-in fly-out from Perth to Leinster on a 5/3/4/2 roster, with flexibility available.
About You
It is Important to us is that you are a forward-thinking leader with a strong focus on safety, inclusion and diversity, productivity and maximising the benefit of technology. You will have prior or transferrable experience with production practices in underground drilling, blasting and production scheduling preferably in an underground hard rock mining environment.
You will also be a performance and achievement oriented professional, who is motivated by exceeding expectations and providing excellent results.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Experience in Drill & Blast Engineering, with deep technical knowledge including QA/QC practices
- Experience in hard rock underground mining operations desired but not essential
- A tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering, a related discipline, or suitable industry experience
- Strong collaboration and interpersonal skills are required to influence stakeholders in the delivery of positive business outcomes
- Strong analytical skills to review information, problem solve and influence stakeholders
- Previous experience in successfully leading and mentoring multi-disciplinary diverse teams coupled with strong operational discipline is highly desirable for this role.
