About the Role
Located 38 kilometres south of Mackay, on the traditional lands of the Yuwibara people, the Hay Point Coal Terminal is BMA’s only port and is capable of handling more than 55 million tonnes of coal for export every year.
The Production team at Hay Point are currently seeking a Port Production Superintendent to provide leadership and support to the Port Production Execution Team, prioritising safety, culture and exceptional performance. This role will use improvement principles to drive performance and efficiency of operations.
Reporting to the Manager Production and working a 5/2 Monday-Friday roster, your key responsibilities will include:
- Demonstrate alignment to BHP Charter Values and Our Code of Business Conduct
- Overseeing of key responsibilities including all inloading and outloading processes, stockyard maintenance and management, minor civil works and shipping arrivals and departures
- Demonstrate safety leadership by being visible in field and utilising the Field Leadership system to connect with teams and continuously improve safety performance
- Build business partnerships and maintain strong working relationships with key stakeholders across the business, including both internal and external
- Collaborate with site leadership teams, including Maintenance, Engineering and Compliance to optimise Port Safety and Performance
- Provide leadership and coaching to direct reports including Production Supervisors and Coordinators to foster an inclusive, high-performance culture where your people can thrive and grow
- Utilise BHPs Operating System to champion continuous improvement
About You
The successful candidate will demonstrate the following:
- Previous experience leading execution teams (within Mining or Port Operations highly regarded)
- Port or Maritime experience would be advantageous
- Strong proven work experience in a similar role
- Ability to influence, engage and communicate with stakeholders effectively across all levels of the business, from frontline employees to senior management
- Strong problem-solving skills with a collaborative approach to finding practical solutions utilising continuous improvement processes
- High-level of experience with all Microsoft Office Applications and good written and communication ability
- Willingness and ability to learn and adapt to change
