About Potash


The Jansen project in Saskatchewan, Canada is set to become one of the largest potash mines in the world and is located approximately 140 kilometers east of Saskatoon.  BHP’s CAD$14 billion (US$10.5 billion) investment in the Jansen project will deliver a potash mine in Saskatchewan designed to maximize sustainability. As the largest investment in Saskatchewan’s history, Jansen is expected to generate approximately 5,500 workforce opportunities during construction and 900 long-term roles.

Jansen's construction will take place over several years with first production planned for late 2026. Once fully ramped up, Jansen is expected to have an initial production capacity of approximately 8.5 million tonnes per annum (Mtpa), with the potential to produce 16 to 17 Mtpa in future stages. Purpose


The Superintendent Production Planning & Logistics provides leadership to a team focused on optimising production activity and end to end value chain (mine to port) plans by developing short term production plans and coordinating production, maintenance and logistics. They also coach and develop their team to deliver high performance.

About the Role


To be successful in this role, you will:

•    Execute and iterate 2-to-5-year plans by gathering, evaluating and challenging plan inputs and rolling these out to stakeholders, with a focus on establishing the foundations and efficient processes for production planning.
•    Apply an understanding of end-to-end Supply Chain (mine to port) to enhance efficiency, drive optimisation, and maximise value.  
•    Determine the underlying cause of problems and evaluate multiple solutions to ensure a planned and structured approach to solving complex problems.
•    Make evidence based and strategic decisions in alignment with longer term business objectives. 
•    Source information, plan and conduct analyses to support evidence based decision making.  
•    Identify, engage and manage a range of diverse internal and external stakeholders.  
•    Develop and communicate quantifiable business cases to other parts of the business to create buy in.  

Work Location


This position will be based in Saskatoon. The associated work schedule will be 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Hybrid working (flexible, shared workstations and a combination of office and work from home) is standard for BHP.

BHP offers domestic relocation assistance to support the successful incumbent in transitioning, if required. Benefits offered as part of the relocation program include (but are not limited to) new home purchase assistance, temporary accommodations, home finding trip and a resettlement allowance.

About You


To be considered, you will need:
 
•    Significant experience in a mining operation with preference for experience in potash mining.
•    Post Secondary degree in engineering, business or related field.
•    Proven experience in production planning and potash supply chain (mine to port).
•    Strong understanding of what drives value across the supply chain, business acumen and risk management.
•    Superior communication and interpersonal skills to interact with, and influence stakeholders including senior leadership.
•    Ability to partner with others and foster relationships with stakeholders across all levels.
