About the Role
We are currently seeking candidates to fill two exciting positions in the role of Superintendent Safety, Radiation and Occupational Hygiene to join our teams supporting the Olympic Dam and Prominent Hill mines. The roles represents a fantastic opportunity to lead high calibre and professional teams, partnering with the Operations to deliver excellence in Safety, Radiation Management and Occupational Hygiene.
Offered on either Residential (5:2) or FIFO / DIDO (5:3 / 4:2) roster basis.
These roles require the successful candidates to:
- Develops operational focused Safety, Occupational Hygiene & Radiation Strategy influenced by Asset strategy, industry expertise and customer feedback;
- Manages, improves and provides expertise on safety, radiation and occupational hygiene management practices to improve performance and drive continuous improvement;
- Determines the underlying cause of problems and evaluates multiple solutions to ensure a planned and structured approach to solving complex problems;
- Identifies, engages and leverages the capabilities of stakeholders across the Operation to support excellence in safety, radiation and occupational hygiene;
- Identifies and assesses risks, makes risk informed decisions, uses BHP's risk management framework and builds a risk aware culture to support safe and productive performance outcomes;
- Governs the implementation of radiation and occupational hygiene monitoring programs to support the ongoing health of our people, verify control effectiveness and drive continuous improvement;
- Defines value drivers and engages regularly with customers to understand service delivery impact and enable continuous improvement;
- Sources information, plans and conducts analyses to support evidence-based decision making.

- Makes evidence-based and strategic decisions in alignment with longer term business objectives.
- Builds capability with teams and supports strategic improvement in health risk management and hygiene delivery.
- Effectively communicates, manages relationships and delivers improvements with Asset, regional, and global teams.
- Effectively engages with the Copper SA Integrated Management System (IMS) to champion the implementation of the PDCA cycle on matters of safety, radiation and occupational hygiene at the operation
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have the following skills and attributes:
- Experience in the heavy industry environment, with demonstrated experience in leading teams and managing for high performance
- Strong communication, influencing and stakeholder engagement skills
- Demonstrated ability to translate plans and strategies;
- Forward thinking and an energetic and proactive work style
- Experience and subject matter expertise in one of Safety, Radiation, Occupational Hygiene or a related field
