About the Role

 

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a safety leader to join the Copper South Australia HS&SEM team as a Superintendent Safety – Carrapateena. Reporting to the Manager Health, Safety, Security & Emergency Management, this role provides leadership to a team focused on the operational management and execution of safety related issues, provisions, and initiatives supporting Carrapateena and the broader Copper SA Asset . Key to this role is leading, coaching and developing teams to deliver high performance.

 

  • Provide leadership for a team of high performing and capable professionals providing support to operational site leadership teams, and be an active contributor to the broader Copper SA Asset.
  • Contribute the ongoing development of excellent team culture.
  • Build capability within the operational leaders to enable them to create the desired safety culture, and enact their risk management and compliance requirements.
  • Develops operational focused Safety Strategy influenced by strategic objectives, customer feedback and industry expertise.
  • Manages, improves, and provides expertise on safety risk management practices to improve organisational safety outcomes and performance.  
  • Govern and maintain the design and implementation of H&S standards, procedures and systems.
  • Identifies and assesses risks, makes risk informed decisions, uses BHP's risk management framework, and builds a risk aware culture to support safe and productive performance outcomes.  
  • Determines the underlying cause of problems and evaluates multiple solutions to ensure a planned and structured approach to solving complex problems.  
  • Identifies, engages, and manages a range of diverse internal and external stakeholders.  
  • Plans, tracks the delivery of and manages a project to generate value and drive the achievement of project outcomes.  
  • Sources information, plans and conducts analyses to support evidence-based decision making.  
  • Knows our customer and is obsessed with meeting their needs. 

 

This role is based on site at Carrapateena, as FIFO on a 4 day on, 3 day off roster (4:3). Flexible work options will be considered.

About You

 

To be successful in this role, you will have a proven passion for safety and a culture of care. You will also have:

  • Experience in leading teams either directly or indirectly.
  • Passion for creating an engaging, supportive & inspiring culture.
  • Demonstrated commitment to achieving proactive H&S outcomes;
  • Forward thinking and proactive work style.
  • A proven ability to develop and implement strategic and tactical plans.
  • Formal qualifications and/or equivalent experience in safety, health, risk or related discipline such as science or business.
  • Greater than 7-10 years’ experience within the mining and resource sector or equivalent.
