About the Role
Reporting to the General Manager, Infrastructure & Services (I&S), you will be responsible for leading a team of safety, risk and training personnel, supporting the I&S team. BMA Infrastructure & Services provides accommodation, transport and other critical services across the BMA Asset, including operating and maintaining the Moranbah Airport, BMA’s accommodation villages, the housing portfolio across the Moranbah & Dysart townships, providing flights and bus transport, and operating and maintaining water pipelines, treatment plants and other infrastructure.
In this role you will be an integral member of the I&S Site Leadership Team, providing guidance and advice to leaders working across the portfolio with a variety of legislative requirements. Based in Moranbah, the role will include regular travel within the Bowen Basin and occasional travel to Brisbane.
Your key responsibilities include:
- Leading, coaching and mentoring team members to deliver against performance targets.
- Accountability for systems governance for the I&S Safety Management System in accordance with Work Health and Safety Queensland (WHSQ) Legislation.
- Identifying and leading initiatives to address gaps and support continuous improvement of the Safety Management System.
- Overseeing the delivery of the risk, legislative and contractor management systems to enable I&S to effectively operate
- Guiding and supporting site leaders to ensure in-field adherence to safety and risk systems
- Building relationships with functions who support the delivery of the I&S Portfolio, and other stakeholders.
- Monitoring and supporting the effective delivery of the training management system and associated information systems

About You
To be successful in this role, you will be an effective leader and a collaborative communicator with the ability to manage multiple business priorities simultaneously in complex environments.
You will have:
- A tertiary qualification in Occupational Health & Safety (OHS), Risk Management, Law or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Experience in delivery of simple, effective solutions in a changing environment.
- Advanced safety and risk leadership expertise with proven commitment to safety and sustainability.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills and excellent stakeholder engagement and influencing skills.
- Experience in developing, maintaining and improving safety management systems.
- Experience in or knowledge of the WHSQ and/or Qld Coal Mining legislative environments would also be an advantage.
